Iginla
Ference(give us some more grit and another Orpik type on the blueline)
Perry

Nice, there's going to be a huge load out there. Not getting Parise/Suter might be the best move Shero made, accidental or not.

I would have run the goalie if I knew it was Crosby....

Corey Perry should be the main target.

I'd love to get Perry. Also, a vet blueliner (or two) on 1-or-2 year deal who just wants to win while Pens D prospects ferment in AHL, junior.

Did Ference originally leave town over $, or was it an issue with the organization?

My list is pretty much like this. Some is blatantly obvious, others may be reaches, but you never know what Shero/Bylsma may find as a fit. The players in BOLD are the ones I think the Penguins could show some obvious, yet considerable interest in. It's going to be a crazy offseason, assuming by then we have a CBA agreement and not nuclear hockey war.

Ryan Getzlaf (Obviously)
Corey Perry (Obviously)
Andrew Ference
Matt Cullen
Mason Raymond
Alexander Edler
Jarome Iginla

When and if the lockout ends, does signing a guy like Perry limit their ability to sign Malkin long term? Of course I know nobody can answer that now.

I'd take Scuds back in a second. He was every bit the shut down dman for LA's cup run as he was for us. In hind sight, letting him go was a big mistake considering what the Pens gave Martin and Z.

On a side note.... Root sports has been broadcasting "vintage" Pens games and I've got to say, I've really lost interest in the NHL over this lockout. I used to enjoy watching old games, but even watching a few minutes of these old games gets me pissed off. Then I turn it off....

I know it may not be popular, but I'd also be interested to see what happens with PK Subban. I know that may not be extremely popular here or most othe places, but I will be keeping my eyes peeled to see what happens with him going forward.

All I know though, is that even the lockout can't get me down today. I'm going to see these guys tonight!

I doubt we see any high profile FAs here. Too many players to resign and we will probably have even less money when the new deal is hammered out. Would love to see a few of those guys on the list in black and gold though

Wait until the implosion occurs and all players are UFA.

Malkin and Crosby will be in Montreal.

There isnt a fit for Getzlaf in Pittsburgh. Crosby, Malkin, Sutter are the top 3 centers. Corey Perry on the other hand would be a match made in heaven for the Penguins (and 29 other teams).

It looks bad that the Pens let Scuderi and Gill go the way they did, especially when you consider that we replaced them with Martin/Michalek but it was a different landscape at the time of Scuds/Gill departure. The cap was around 60M and not 70M. 3.5M was a lot of coin to throw around at the time of negotiations. In hindsight it looks ridiculous that we could have had Scuderi at that price. That being said, I would definitely want the Pens to pursue his services if he hits the market again. He was excellent again. Still dont know why he was left off the 2010 USA roster.

I never claimed there was a fit. I said they would have interest. All the teams would have interest. Again---you never really know. Malkin can play wing just as well as center. Just a thought.

Actually, I think we've seen enough over the years to know that Malkin is a natural center and is much better suited there than at wing. I'd rather chase another natural winger than force one of the top players in the game to change positions...

If there is no fit, then there is no interest. Getzlaf will not be on Pens radar.

Eventually Bennett will make an honest run at the top 6 as well.

Obviously the more likely solution. Bennett and Tangradi will get their chances. They've both played well to this point in Wilkes-Barre too.

Of course, it's unlikely he would move from center. Thats not in question. He is just that rare type of player that could be dominant at either wing or center.

it seems to me the best bet forthe Pens is Scuderi and Iggy, i mean if you guys could afford what Perry is likely to command i doubt you would've had to trade staal...plus Iggy would fit perfectly on Crosby's line without a need for long term commitment....i'd love to see Iggy in a Habs uniform but i just dont know if we'll be winning the cup in the next 5 years which is likely around how long Iggy's career has left
