I was wondering how many other Islander fans have similiar feelings.

After Millbury was done I was sure Isles fans didn't have anymore feelings.

Does anyone else feel players association are at biggest fault here if we don't have season now after NHL last offer.

Instead of playing that stupid game of going back and forth till you wind up in middle NHL put that best deal foward.

How is 50/50 not fair? Also of course NHL has right to close the various loopholes that were beefing exploited.
1) no more front loaded salaries.
2) the Wang loophole of signing player and uses performance bonuses to get to league minimum.

I for one am 100% on NHL side at is point. If we don't get a season it's all the players answers fault. Any see it differently?

That is the nature of negotiation, whether its buying a house or a car or negotiating a billion dollar CBA. Sucks I know, but its the game. Fehr's job is to advise the players of their best interest, that's why he was hired, after the players got raped in the last CBA.

50/50 is fair but its the process of getting to 50/50 that has to be worked out. going from 57% to %50 overnight would be a huge hit...also they have to figure out the escrow issue and define how the hell these teams are going to get to the new cap ceiling in one year. the league is also putting huge restrictions on the players contracts without throwing the players any bones. there is still alot to work out. this is a good starting point but the nhlpa should reject this contract. if this was the proposal that was set forth in june we would have had a season by now. here's what i think will happen. the players will counter the league offer and then next week the owners will come back with something...i think there will be a deal by the end of next week. but blaming the players if they reject this deal is very short sighted. that exactly what the owners want you to believe which is why they are throwing out buzz words like 50/50 split.

Agree on all points. The NHLPA has to recognize that fair or not now though, they will not be winning any public relations battles by turning this down. The owners & Bettman have been roundly viewed as the bad guys here, wont be the case anymore. But I wouldn't care either if I was a player, just get me the best deal in the end. It sucks for us fans, but never forget this is a business.

Not the players fault at all.. this is completely the owners fault.. they locked the players out... they can end this & play a season under the old CBA while the 2 sides work something out... if there is a loss of a single game it it all on the owners.
50/50 is nice.. but that's all the owners are giving up... they haven't budged on any of the other issues.

The more I read some of the players tweets the more I'm siding with the owners. People are struggling to pay the bills and feed their families and these guys are gonna cry on twitter how much they are losing???? Enough is Enough both sides can fack off!!

We have bigger things to worry about at the moment than hockey. For example with the closing of hooters where will I go before games to eat?

They both suck ass. Today's news would have been a non-issue had these talks started in July when they should have, because it would be August now and we'd still have plenty of time to hammer something out. They dragged their feet on getting talks rolling and this is the result. Players should stop whining about it, because if they leaned on Fehr to get things going as soon as the season ended, we may not be at the point we are now. The owners took a whopping 10 minutes to reject the 3 PA offers, when the PA at least took 2 days to review the owners offer and come back. That's crap.

They both suck for sure but I've leaned towards the owners side since day one. Players have to eek out more and more of the revenue when more than half the teams are losing money. These guys make millions(as you already stated)and the buisness model is failing for the league save for a few teams and their owners while the players still make millions no matter which team they play for. It's a joke and no buisness would stand for it. I have a a hard time understanding why anyone could side with the players?

@JeffBlay: Mitch Theoret picked up a goal & 2 assists in the win, giving him 4 goals & 3 assists in the past 4 games. #Isles #IceDogs

Who saw that one coming out of Niagara?

No question not many hero's on either side. I killed the owners about not getting the Revenue sharing issue resolved. The players are no better not taking a 50/50 split as well and if the players are so worried about the small market teams let one of these top FA's sign with a smaller market team for less money and help them improve. You cannot just run to the Rangers or Philly all the time and say you feel bad for the small market teams.

Ahh that explains it. Damn, I was hoping we had a little last-round power forward gem there. His numbers will obviously be inflated playing him with Strome. Still nice to see though.

He just follows Strome around and heads for the net...lol.

He is playing pretty good though.

I think the reason the Isles drafted him was because he's buddies with Strome.

Got to keep him happy...

Hey I'll take it. If one day he can score a little bit better than Martin I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a top-6 role, product of highly-skilled centers or not.
