Has no choice IMO. At his age sitting out a year pretty much ends his career. |

Tim Thomas should have not said anything and would have most likely got the year off anyways and saved face. |

I don't think Tim Thomas gives a rat's behind what people think of him. |

Don't know how true this is but pretty sure i heard Bettman lives in NJ. I think its our duty as hockey fans to take him out...2 lockouts while your commissioner and another one looming. How does he have a job this should not be acceptable. |

i think the owners have a better idea about the negotiations then he does, and he has to listen to the owners and pretty much do what they say, im sure he suggests things to them but how much power over them that he has is debatable
i dont like him and think he comes off as a total bumhole, but i think people point their finger at him more then they should, its just easy to |

He has 30 teams with a few different needs. Unfortunately, the owners would rather push the players around than compromise with each other because they have the leverage. Bettman is just trying to get the most for as many owners as he can. That said, I really think the players association need to be more compromising right now. The players can't afford to lose 2 seasons so close together. They can play hardball all they want, but they stand to lose more during a lockout, and for a good amount of players, 2 seasons shorter of a career. I think the owners have laid out what they want but in an extreme way. They will be willing to cut a fair deal, in my opinion. |

The players are going to have to compromise, but I think what they are trying to do is hope the owners proposal changes. The players really shouldn't have to compromise, this whole lockout is because the owners are crying wolf over poop they've caused themselves. If the players would've compromised on the initial proposal, there shares would be a lot smaller than if they compromise now. Basically, the longer this drags on the more compromises are going to be made and the players will get a better deal. The only problem is this could backfire if the owners play hardball as well. |

Hes had the job for 20 years i tend to think he may be a little more then just a puppet and figure head. What he needs to do is get the owners on the same page for growing the gaming and not take the fans for granted. If we lose an entire season or even half it will leave an extremely bad taste in my mouth and will make it difficult to want to come back. I love this sport but i will not blindly support a company who couldn't give two poops about their customers. Like really owners can't negotiate and still play under the current cba? Just remember the owners are the ones locking out the players and demanding they make concessions for mistakes they've made. The fact they complain about players salaries is hilarious. Didn't realize the players decided how much money they get offered. The NHLPA does have to do something about there % of the hockey related revenue as 57% is way too high. But other then that i think the owners have been on crack for asking for some of contract restrictions they have. Especially after the last lockout a salary rollback was taken. |

Wish i felt that optimistic. I feel almost certain these greedy scumbags just expect the players to cave like last time and i don't think they will. The negotiations they've been having are an utter joke they met what like 6x since the seasons ended if that. The effort from both sides to get a fair deal done doesn't seem to be there. |

The owners wouldn't pay a guy $7million/year if they didn't think he deserved....sorry, I just thought of Gomez. Never mind. |
