Its hard to tell anymore in this trade environment. Seems like a standoff between the teams with the player desired and the teams that want the player but don't want to risk moving important pieces to get the player. The exception being Staal who had one year left and was going to walk anyway. I would think Yandle would net a huge return but I'm not sure who's willing to give up talented players with manageable salaries.

I'm pretty sure GMDM said he was imagining Z would be paired with OEL. I don't think Z and Yandle used to be paired much either. I seem to remember Z being paired with Jovo so that he could stop the break away every time Jovo ripped a slapshot directly into the shin guards of the opposing team, then watched them skate by.

Yandle for Ryan would be an interesting move and fill the likley void left by Doan. I'd hate to see how well Ryan and his super duper work ethic and ultra-intensity would roll with Tippett. That'd be fun to have a listen to.

Yeah, he was a rock star in that tourney for sure. Saw him play in Erie, he wasn't anythign that made me think he was exceptional, but he took in all that pressure, withstood attacks on him and stood his ground. Tournament of that kids life for sure.

I agree with you about Yandle. It would be wise to keep him for the reasons you stated. Here's why they'll trade him. The team is really in need to replace offensive production left behind by the departure of Whitney. Don't think Sullivan will replace Whitney's numbers. If they lose Doan, Yandle's gone for sure. The team will require a top 6 forward and a top 4 D-man in return. That top 4 D-man will need to be young and have the potential to replace Yandle within a season or two. The Yotes may require two forwards instead and a defensive prospect. Either way Yandle will be all but gone by the summer's end. Either of these possibilities will take up more cap space than Yandle's contract.

Never could understand why Coyotes would trade him, probably even more baffling than Anaheim wanting to trade Ryan. Need a little cap hit, how about Stajan, 2.5 mill actual for 3.5 mill cap hit for 2 more years
