not feeling good about this UFA period at all.
If you told me 3 yrs ago, we would be in this cap position, with some of the UFAs out there being possibly available, I would not have believed you.
Now, it scares the "tomas holmstroms" out of me. Hang boys, it could ugly if Suter does not want to come to Detroit. |

My guess is they sign Matt Carle or Garrison. If they aren't available they probably go with what they've got if the kids (Smith and Kindle in particular) they'll trade for someone else if they aren't getting the job done. |

Garrison is a left handed shot Mark not right handed.
Don't really want JBo even for Emmerton let alone give up anything good for him. Don't want Carle either but i think he is just waiting for July 1st to re-sign with the Flyers. |

Cap room is only good if you use it, and considering the money Illitch is shelling out for the Tigers, I doubt the Wings have any limits on spending. With that said, if that's what it takes to sign him, they might as well overpay to make it happen if need be. I'd rather spend big than take my chances with the roster as is. |

Wings could make him a longer term front loaded contract that pays him more than 8 million per year for the first half of the contract and comes down in the 2nd half to bring down the cap hit. Suter gets most of his money early in the contract with the huge salary but the Wings get a nice cap hit. |

You guys trade Pavel for Komiserek - Sheppy99
I wouldn't trade Pavel Brendl (if the Wings had him) for Komisarek |

I don't even think that is an issue.
Wings can afford to sign 3 players @ 8Million each and be within both cap/player roster limit... on top of having all of last year's team except... Lidstrom, Homer and Hudler.
...
@ Wingz,
there is no plan to replace Lidstrom. but I agree, it's crunch time... and its time to prove the worth. Heard they like Prust too, I would like that grit and snot, which we need. |

I don't think there really is such a thing as a plan to replace Lidstrom. Wings'll be okay though. |

The only reason he wouldn't sign in Detroit is if he got absolutely insane money somewhere else... I mean even insane for free agency. And if that's the case the Red Wings would be better off without him. |

I had to look it up when you said he was right handed because i didn't think he was.
No problem.
I asked Buffalo fans about Myers and they seem to think it would take a massive overpayment (like Franzen + Filppula maybe more) for the Wings to get him. So he isn't a likely option at all...you were right Mark. |

here is what i expect holland to walk away with when the dust settles in free agency:
one of the big names: Suter or Parise
a backup goalie: Hedberg, Biron, and so on
-a top six forward (again, if Parise signs its not needed)
and maybe another defensemen depending on if its Parise or Suter

My bet is Parise resigns with NJ.
As for free agency, welcome to our world, Detroit: we've been calling July 1st "our draft" for as long as I can remember, and it rarely works out for us (Mogilny, Roberts, maybe Beauchemin because he landed us Gardiner/Lupul). You've had better luck with depth/character guys, but this year's looking rough. |

It's going to be a great day!
I don't have to work, the sun is shining, it's Canada Day so I am going to get boozed up, and the Wings are going to lay some free agent smack down in 1.5 hours!
How's that for optimism? |

Gustavsson. meh. - PukMeInThe5Hole
A bit more salary then i thought they would spend on a backup but i'm ok with this signing. Joey Mac might still have back issues so depth is good. |
