I'm sure icing a winning team will help ease the pain for Ottawa and their fans.

I agree. But it is a more interesting question. - Sven22
I still think it's a toss up. It's not like Bure got in on his first ballot...he's been waiting for 6yrs. So if he goes in after 6 tries before Shanny does on his first attempt, I'm more than okay with that.
I'm not suggesting that you are, by any means, but I just don't see the point in some people getting bent out of shape by guys not getting in the first year they are elligible. IMO, Sakic is the only one this year who was a no-doubt, first-ballot guy. |

In terms of injury-shortened careers, does no one else think that Lindros was more of a force in his prime than Bure? Human bull-dozer, scores, passes. And a Hart trophy. |

Where is the Eklund E5 stone cold lock of the day? |

Want to know the source of Eklunds rumors?
He puts all the free agents and players on the trading block on a dart board.
Then he puts all the nhl teams on a roulette wheel.
Whatever combination of the two is, there is your daily rumor |

I agree. For the sake of clarity, I have no problems with the slate and probably would have picked the same exact four guys. My point seems to be the same as yours -- Sakic is a no-brainer, the rest are legitimately arguable as to who "deserves" to get in before somebody else. So claiming that not selecting Shanny is a "disgrace" is a bit harsh. Some (if not most) people would have put him in this year's top four, but the difference is not so extreme that it's worth getting bent about.
Bure I think is the most interesting case because it's a question of peak vs. longevity, and you weigh each one. Shanny vs. Sundin is pure hairsplitting.
Also, the Hall could have avoiding this controversy entirely if they had simply selected at least one of Bure or Oates already. 2008 and 2010 particularly stand out, as both classes featured extra available spots and both classes featured one player (Anderson in 2008, Ciccarelli in 2010) who was far less deserving than Oates and Bure. |

I think one of most potentially fascinating hockey debates (I'd like to research and write on this topic sometime) would be Lindros vs. Bure vs. Forsberg. All very different players, all of whom crashed out by their early 30s due to injuries, all of whom were dominant in their primes. Attempting to rank them would say a lot about how one values individual awards, how one values goals versus assists, etc. |

Forsberg is the only one with Stanley Cups (plus he has the most points of the three). But he also played on the most talented team of the three. Its certainly a great debate. |

He has the most points but by far the fewest goals, so a lot of the question is how you rate goals vs. assists. The "goals created" statistic at Hockey Reference (which weights goals more heavily than assists) actually ranks Forsberg last among the three, though I think that system underrates the value of Forsberg's playmaking. Clearly his "average" assist was much more valuable than the league standard. |

I think over the last few years they are putting players in the HHOF to have players in. Just because a guy was the best on his team doesn't make him a Hall Of Fame player. I don't think Sundin should be in there. |

I really don't understand how in any of your stupid rumors that you put up here you don't put the rangers in any rumors for anyone. This site is total trash. You mean to tell me if Kovi was available the rangers wouldn't be interested. That the rangers are only at a 5% chance of trading for Nash. That we arent interested in Doan, I mean really ek, I have watched you post things on here for years now and still refuse to give you any of my money. You have been right 1% of the time. I understand they are rumors and rumors change but dude really you just post crap to post it to keep people like me interested. Just for once post something logical |

This is the only recent thread that "exists" for me right now.
Still have a pretty horrendous feeling about this Wideman deal. |
