Hey if it gets us a top 6 of

Parise-Zajac-Ryan
Elias-Henrique-Kovy

I'd do it every time

It's Bobby Ryan not (frank)ing Eric Lindros.

I agree with you Steve, not really sure why trading Ryan makes sense on any level.

As in, you don't need to send six (frank)ing players and picks.

I would consider a Josefson+Clarkson tandem as a starting point, plus two more assets that are either picks, prospects, or both. Not four players/prospects and two picks.

From a TO perspective, that's like trading Gardiner, the first round pick, AND Schultz for Ryan.

Is there really anything going the other way besides Greene and maybe Urbom/Gelinas in the deal I proposed that would be seriously missed? You have to give to get

Mostly what happened is Landeskog and not really Landeskog by himself but the combination of O'Reilly & Landeskog together.

Those two basically took over the team when it comes work ethic and a complete 200ft game every night.

In this case Stastny has proven chemistry with Ryan and the fact that Parise could hit the market does not hurt the whole idea of making a trade like that.

I honestly think that the Avs like the two-way/fore-checking game that having Stastny & O'Reilly down the middle bring. I know there is a lot of talk bashing Stastny but hes very versitile as far as who he can play with and be effective. His assist totals dropped during a rebuilding period but that's understandable.

He has also shown a resurgence at the end of last year and in the Worlds that proves when hes given legit talent on his wing he can return to being closer to a PPG center while giving you a complete 200ft game.

Our system has changed a bit from a run and gun to more of a possession/forecheck game. As much as Avs fans don't want to admit it. Stastny's lack of value due to his contract but his versatility at the same time combined with O'Reilly & Landeskog kind of edge Duchene out.

The emergence of Landeskog as a fan favorite also makes it easier to move a young center like Duchene and not reap nearly as much backlash from the fan base as long as the player coming back is fairly significant.

Besides even the possibility of Parise - Stastny - Ryan in a market that already has a huge amount of Olympic buzz with Colorado Springs being the center of USA Olympics. That combination would seriously apeal to the business side of things to and would be an absolute PR dream for an organization that resides in the heart of the country.

That's just my take anyways..

(I wouldn't exactly say Duchene's name is being thrown around either. Our center depth and holes else where in the roster give some weight to the discussion. Duchene is the most valuable chip we have that we could part with without gutting the team. Kind of like Ryan is with ANA.)

Cool, nice post. Thanks for the perspective. Decent spot for you guys to be in, pretty rare to have "Too much skill/depth at center".

If you're feeling generous, we could definitely use a solid center to build around, as opposed to uninterested bums and pseudo-centers like Antro and Little. Come to think of it, the only "True" center(who can win a draw) we have is Jim Slater.

A similar trade with the Jets could work around Kane & Burmistrov but Burmistrov is a lot more proven than Holland is and would be harder to pry out of Winnipegs hands even with Mueller & Duchene coming the other way for Kane.

Colorado would probably want another young unproven center to compete with Hishon & Sgarbossa for the 3rd center position on the team. The invite to Holland is that he is a big body and is known for responsible two-way ability so it makes the risk worth it.

Mueller is kind of like a boom or bust prospect. Hes proven that he can put up points in the NHL is a big body and can play any of the forward positions. His injury history seems to be behind him but there are questions involved obviously. So it's similar to a strong prospect in regards to value vs risk. IMO

Hell yes! Won't happen because there's no chance in hell Bobby gets reunited with Carlyle. Murray doesn't hate Ryan, Carlyle does.

Bob Murray needs to step up and put an end to these Bobby Ryan rumors once and for all. Why in heavens name would any general manager in is right mind trade this guy? It sure would be nice if this team had a general manager that knew how to take charge. Murray is soft. A change is long overdue.

Oh I would love it. He signs somewhere, we trade for him, and bury him in the minors for 7 years for being a deceiving little tw@t

Funny, I don't remember all this attention for the Kings until about June 1st. Tell me, when did you become a fan? April? May? June??

Not yet..

And Stastny & Ryan together > Duchene

Just like Landeskog & O'Reilly are > Duchene

See my point? Creating a dominant team and maximizing the TEAMs talent level and chemistry is > the single coveted center.

Kind of interesting how because of each teams roster Ryan & Duchene end up on a island by themselves. In Ryan's case it's a lack of center depth in ANA and in Duchene's case it's a lack of winger depth in COL.

Guess what? Colorado has young centers in the minors for the future and ANA has young wingers in the minors for the future as well.

Hmmm, Interesting huh?

i know right now Stastny's passing is better then Duchene. But Duchene is the better player in my mind and at 21 he has a load of time in front of him. why not trade Stastny? i know we have centers in the miniors but there small and not half as good as what Duchene is! The speed that Ryan - Duchene - Mueller would have is unreal. i think if we were to trade a center it has to be the older Stastny.

Looking at the Ducks - their prospect pool is mediocre and some of their vets are aging/retiring...it would be smart to do a mini-rebuild now and stock the cupboard with prospects who will be ready in 2 years so your team doesn't drop off and become perennial top-5 draft pickers (see NYI).

While I am not surprised to hear Selanne come back again I question if it is just not better to stay away and retire. He can step out now on a high level, but if he comes back and shows his true age then it will tarnish him. I can see it resembling a Favre situation, as in a guy who just never wants to step back and say enough.
