The NHL draft is only a few days away and the NHL hot stove is already blazing hot and of course the Anaheim Ducks are stuck right smack dab in the middle of the madness.

TSN's Bob McKenzie set off a whirlwind of speculation when he tweeted out the following nugget of gold regarding Bobby Ryan's future in Orange County...

If you will remember, Ryan was the subject of countless rumors during the Ducks first half swoon. Ultimately nothing came of the chatter and the team went on a tear after Bruce3 Boudreau took over for Randy Carlyle. It was beleived Ryan and Carlyle didn't see eye-to-eye.

Without Randy, Ryan's game took off and he played a huge role in Anaheim's turnaround by collecting 31 goals and 57 points. It was Ryan's fourth consecutive season of 30-plus goals for the Ducks.

I personally can't see any reason to trade Ryan. How does it make any sense for Anaheim. He's young, fast and a proven goal scorer. Plus he's a fan favorite. If he is indeed traded, it better be for something phenomenal.

Selanne ready for "one more" year?

According to Finnish media outlet Veikkaaja only a fluke injury or some other kind of disaster could keep 41-year-old Teemu Selanne from returning to Anaheim for one last go-around. Obviously, nothing has been made official yet, but this certainly is promising news for Ducks fans.

Selanne led the Ducks in scoring last season and it's quite evident that he still has game even at his advanced age. If the report is true and he does indeed return, we can thank the re-signing of fellow Fin Saku Koivu. Apparently bringing back Koivu helped make up Selanne's mind faster than anticipated.

I always felt that Selanne wanted at least one more year. A player of his caliber shouldn't have to end such a wonderful career by missing the playoffs.

Hopefully Selanne gets a chance for redemption in 2012-13.
