Sorry if I don't believe you without some kind of source but capgeek is more reputable than you.

Understood. No offense taken. I looked there to see if they have had the details, but didn't see anything. Even Russo tweeted he's still not sure what the details of it are and it sounds like he asked them.

They could use puck movers. If Toronto wanted Backstrom and they were willing to give the Wild something that Fletcher feels would improve the team, he would go for it. But I don't see Fletcher making any lateral moves this year.

You have to give to get. Like Pat Burns said to the media when he was coaching Montreal. To get gold you got to give gold. So if Toronto wants Backstrom, and Toronto has a puck moving Defenceman, that could help out. I can see at least a conversation happening.

So, Eklund tweets that the re-signing of Harding could be a "trigger". A trigger for what? Naturally, I start thinking a sign and trade for Parise's negotiating rights and then I hear from a very good source that the Devils like Harding. I've been saying all along that NJ kept their 1st round draft pick to flip with a team like the Wild for Parise's negotiating rights. Could it be flipping of #1's plus Harding for Zach's negotiating rights? Stay tuned.

This isn't basketball I can't recall the last time a team did a sign and trade. Not gonna happen!

According to capgeek.com Backstrom does not have a NTC or NMC.
- Pomegrant

Per Michael Russo, beat writer of the Wild for the Minneapolis Star Tribune: Backstrom has a statistical no trade clause which is not lifted until the trade deadline next year.

True, I'm just not sure that's the kind of deal Burke wants to make. Backstrom's cap hit is $6 million. I'm not sure he improves their goaltending that much. But, as part of a bigger deal that helps both teams, it could happen.

Closest thing to a sign and trade in recent memory... re: Carter and Richards last off-season, JVR this off-season.

They must be crushed, Leafs fans have been planning the parade with Harding as the potential saviour for the past couple of weeks

Smart move for Harding. Stays somewhere he obviously likes, good situation for him to take over when Backstrom leaves. Best part the pressure is limited compared to signing as a UFA for a team who needs a goalie bad.

Is it Friday yet? Well maybe Thursday since a blockbuster will happen the day before the draft.

Harding+7th overall pick for Parise's rights and the 29th. Damn, I would take that one only if negotiations fall through between NJ and ZP.

You know that you said rights, right? More like 7th round pick for Parise's rights.

I can see it now "Hey Zack, we are going to move your rights to Minnesota for a goalie with some of the highest raw talent this league has and jump more than half the league in the draft. Then July 1st we will give you league maximum, sound good?"

I'm sure one of the two would be conditioned on Parise signing with the Wild.
