you watch the philly game where he gave up the breakway that cost us our season? - HAMgerber
So us scoring only 1 goal that game didnt cost us our season, or are you gonna blame Miller and Regehr?? |

how many of those guys had 70 pt years? like i specified. because chara and prongs are d men id give them a break as they def had major factors in their teams going all the way. that gives us 3 guys.
the rest of those guys are role guys dont kid yourself. - HAMgerber
well nvmd i guess the more i look at it.
recchi and weight were 55-60 point guys so they are tweeners for my cetegory.

Wilson is rising
I like him and would not mind grabbing him at 12
he will be gone at 21 IMO - homiedclown
yep, even if its a "reach" at 12, if you like him take him there. |

I know Lindy tore Regehr a new one right in front of the whole team...probably not a great idea.
On the bright side it could lead to changes. The powers that be were so upset that they didnt show up that game that changes may come just cause they were so PO'd from that showing |

homer why you like the guy? not attacking or anything im just curious bc i dont know anything about him. ive watched a highlight or two and saw he had a great attitude in an interview
but my biggest thing is stats idk why ...i see he had 27pts in 49 OHL games
seems like a great candidate for a 3rd line career player (which is fine)
but i feel like in the first round we should be targeting 1st/2nd round guys ...no?
idk im not toooo familiar with building through the draft im pretty young

Big, tough, good head on shoulders, has decent skill.......sounds to me like a Marcus Foligno type and I'll gladly take another player in his mold.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think Regehr needs to be reminded when he makes blunders like that, he knows. |

i said this to a friend of mine recentyl...he reminds me sooooooo much like craig rivet
big huge guy great leader brought in for some muscle. has a good half of 1st year and then just totally falls apart
biggest thing i noticed for the two of them were their speed dramatically dropped off. getting beat to pucks a lot was a common thing for rivet late in his career and it was starting to show for regehr late last season
i was the biggest fan of this trade at the time too. oh well. |

I know you said they don't like Euro's but not taking Henrik Samuelsson at 21 (if he's there) will be a mistake IMO. |

can someone give me some examples where the marquis free agent/ big name traded player or #2 free agent of the summer came in and brought a team to cup victory in the first couple years? not being mouthy or anything im just curious i cant think of any
exclude mike richards from the kings bc he was dumped abruptly and wasnt being shopped around all over for a while. im talking like a highly touted guy
i feel like these types of guys just never get it done
kovalchuk, brad richards, etc (sure they went to the show or got close....close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades) - HAMgerber

If I really wanted to stretch it I could add Penner to the list. He was one of the most sought out deadline deal players at the time of his trade. |

very interesting piece ill give you that gunner
but idk the proof is in the pudding for me. i saw him getting burned a lot, getting beat to pucks, getting toyed with in the corners (unless he wasnt right there mauling the guy)
dont get me wrong this article proves that he was playing against the toughest guys and such but he didnt fulfill his expectations IMO
i look at the complete package too. for me, my biggest pet peeve for dmen is the outlet pass out of the defensive zone.
people were trashing ehrhoff all season long but honestly look at him deep down....he is a wizard with the puck in his own zone. sure he didnt put up 50 pts but he always made the right pass out of the zone...if our forwards were skilled he wouldve been a 50 pt dman
but we have a ton of lazy bums |

Depends on what your expectations were. I think he has done exactly what he was brought in to do. He is a no frills defender who gets the tough assignments. If his gap control is on, it won't look like he is doing much. His accomplishments are non descript, his errors not so much. Makes it easy to forget the good and remember the bad.

Marc Savard fit the bill but gets forgotten.
Signs in 2007, scores 262pts in 238gp before concussion problems.

Teemu Selanne returns to the Ducks year before they win the cup, if not mistaken. |

Do we get to count Pronger twice? He may have lost in the Final with Philly but they don't get there without him. Hossa helped propel Pittsburgh and Detroit to the Final as well.
Hell count Pronger a third time, throw in his Edmonton run.

I said when they got him don't expect the Robyn Regehr from 03/04-07/08. He's more of a 3/4 guy now and should be used as such. |

i remember when EK said we were interested in him maybe a year before this went down and calgary fans said they were really excited for all that regehr would bring in an trade and also that he was unbelievably slow. i don't think the sabres brought him in thinking he was speedy, i just think they expected him to be rhett warrenner-like aka a really solid defender that is physical. one thing i read shortly after this trade and didn't know abou regehr is that one contributing factor towards his foot speed is that he was in a car accident really early in his pro career that resulted in both of his legs being broken and most thought he wouldn't ever play again. i'm not making excuses but just laying out a potential reason why he's so slow.
