just keep the pikkkkk and take Nail!!!!!

The top 6 would be outstanding Hemmer/Hall/Ebs/Yak/Nuge/Gaga... They just need a power forward. Don't forget PRV too. Then they could focus on signing Schultz

When you pick 1st overall three years in a row the prestige factor is kind of a dubious benefit. It's becoming kind of a joke at this point. I see what you're saying and agree, but this really had better be the last year they pick in the lottery.

and I know you probably just worded it wrong, but since when is Tyler Myers a non NHL ready prospect?

- GuyLaDouche

I did word it wrong. I meant Tyler myers or one of the mentioned prospects from toronto or ottawa that have yet to develop the way that myers has. Myers is good and would easily be Edmontons number one but he doesn't have the name that casual hockey fans would know. Even someone past their prime like gonchar would sell better to some fans than Myers. Not to us on this forum but I think you know what I mean. It has to be something to get excitement. Not just in the 100 million from the government, not just in the UFA's/RFA's, ticket holders, media but also in the people developing secondary components that make this arena possible. Condos, hotels, retail stores, parking, Grant MacEwan and the general public that has to put up with the downtown core being a mess for 3 years without resentment.

The public doesn't just have to support the project now but they have to attend not only the games but they have to visit the casino, use the hotel, shop at the stores... Does no good to have a successful arena and built on a foundation of a revitalized core that has retail space sold as much as heritage mall did. The city has to embrace the downtown core again and the arena is going to be the focal point of the entire downtown business associations movement for the future. The team can rebuild but it has to show progress. Hall, RNH and Nail are progress.

Unfortunately the oilers have more to worry about than a hockey club right now and there are a lot of powerful people, including the owner that have hundreds of millions to make on the decisions that could hinge on this draft/season. The project will still go ahead but his cause would be easier if the public got behind him and made the government pay 100 million. That is the real price tag of Nail Yakupov.

Not to sure to be honest, I only looked up the overall record against these teams. I am not to worried as Edm fared well after February except the last coupl 10 games. I for one do believe smaller skill teams will win out against bigger crash and bash teams as it has been done in the past with teams like Detroit.
- longbottom

Smaller skilled teams may inherit the League (when/if the officiating is finally sorted out) but in the meantime teams that bang, crash and shut down the middle will make a pretty comfortable living.

Brent Sutter has some nice things to say about the Nuge and Ebs.

Sutter coached the Calgary Flames for the last three seasons and is seeing Eberle, Dubnyk and fellow Oilers teammate Ryan Nugent-Hopkins from a different perspective behind Canada's bench.

"No question Eberle played really well. I thought both him and (Nugent-Hopkins) were both really good and you can tell they've obviously played together," Sutter said. "They make things happen but they're also dependable players defensively too and it's always nice to have that from your top players.

im pretty much willing to trade anyone but Hall/Ebs/Nuge/1st overall.

I think they would do it especially if another dman was added, Clowe had a bad year and they could use some speed with PRV and maybe take a shot with omark who could be a decent top 6 player.

Ryan Clowe is not getting traded, especially not for a lame package that includes Omark.

Not to be a Richard, but theres a reason why guys like him, Stewart, Backes, Lucic, Getzlaf, Brown, Benn, Morrow, Hartnell, Malone, etc are never really traded.

yeah why should the oilers hire him? he hasn't proven much at all with either the devils or the Flames.... keep him away, far away from the young kids.

I couldn't help but notice that you didn't have Karlsson listed as one of your demands from Ottawa. I didn't see much of him in the regular season but I sure did love watching him in the Playoffs. Any particular reason you didn't mention his name as part of a potential trade?
- thefullnelson

There is absolutely no chance the Senators would deal him, that is why.

Thats why i put the + on the list and later stated i'd be willing to trade anyone but hall/eberle/nuge/1st rounder.

I also beleive that sharks would be willing to move him, he had the worst +/- on their team in the playoffs and had a bit of an off year. The sharks also can't win a series in the playoffs and are always out a bit earlier than expected, maybe its time for a change with a few vet players. The oilers also have some young players that they may be willing to move. So if I were Tambo i would be willing to at least see if the sharks are a bit interested in making a move and willing to let go of clowe. As he could be a missing part of the top 6.

Chara, 166 hits and 87 BS, 79 games - this year

Myers, 78 hits and 70 BS, 55 games

Myers (Last year): 107, 98, 80 games

Myers has also siginificantly improved his GVA-TKA ratio since his rookie year.

He is one of the only dmen I trade the farm for.

The only thing holding this trade back is Lindy Ruff's experience with Russian hockey players.

He just seem to use his size and strength to intimidate his opponents. I'd prefer to draft Nail then trade him for meyers. But either way the oilers need to address their defense soon

Well said.

Anyone who doesnt see the trend is blind.

We got pushed around and manhandled in the regular season alot. the playoffs mighta killed our top 6 had we qualified.

I'm not saying we should hire him. I'm just pointing out he recognizes what RNH and Eberle bring to the table.

I think RNH will be the best out of Hall, Ebs, Yak... he's Datsyuk 2.0
