I think Galchenyuk ends up in Toronto. Yakupov to EDM, Forsberg to CBJ, Grigorenko to MTL, Murray to NYI, Galchenyuk to TOR. - isles10289
MTL will pick Galchenyuk, thank you for trying. |

One thing is for sure, someone drafting around 8th or 9th is going to end up getting a player that is ranked very high on someone's list. This year there seems to be a lot of different opinions. Some how Central has Dumba at 11th, but then on McKenzie's list he has him at 5. And Mckenzie uses Central scouts. Just leads me to believe that he can go just about anywhere. Then you have Galenchuk 1st on yours, but 14th ISS.
Going to be an interesting one this year. |

I've never argued he wasn't the consensus number one. I've just replied that I don't think the dropoff is as monumental as they would like to think. There was speculation that he could be passed this year by a few players, most notably Grigorenko, so I doubt its as big a drop as they're suggesting (I.e. It would take the Habs Subban to trade up). ISS even had Grigorenko ranked first half the season.
I know he's number one. I just don't see the drop as big as they like to think it is. - prock
Who exactly is running around saying this? Cloutier? What we've been told is that 9 of 10 scouts have Yakupov at 1. That he has potentially to be some sort of Bure/Ovi lite. I don't see many suggesting that this is the difference between Kane and Turris. |

Do remember that year that CSS had Turris at 1. Kane was 1 on all lists but theirs. |

Argh I've wanted Galchenyuk for months now. Why is his ranking going up after not playing a whole season and only playing 4 playoff games... It's hard to judge that. I thought it was gonna be like this
Yakupov - CLB
Murray - EDM
Gigo - MTL
Forsberg-NYI
Galch - TOR
I might be wrong on the NYI
EDIT: Disregard this I forgot EDM won the lottery lol Changes everything. |

ISS is pretty good. Ross MacLean is a smart guy.
Then you have the other services like HockeyProspect.com, Future Considerations (whom I work for), McKeen's Hockey, who also do full indepth stuff, but on a "pay for it" basis. |

Basically, people wanted to see if the knee injury affected his skating, and it didn't. With that, he went back up to where he originally was in most rankings. |

So with that being said I think the draft will be
EDM - Yakupov
CLB - Galch
MTL- Grig
NYI - Murray
TOR - Forsberg?
Is that a fair assumption? |

Likely yes.
Keep in mind, Dave Morrison ( Leafs' head scout) has missed only ONE Kitchener Ranger home game over the past two months. He even skipped going to the U18's, and stayed in Ontario for the Plymouth/Kitchener series. (His European guys like Tommie Bergmann were at the U18's) Makes me wonder if he's as high on Faksa as I am.
For comparison, Montreal's Trevor Timmins was at every U18 game from day one. |

I don't dislike Faksa... It's just Forsberg a bit more. |

Likely, yea. Not trying to predict, but give my opinions
Was pretty down on Forsberg most of the year. |

You putting Galchenyuk ahead of Yakupov reminded me of the year Tavares was drafted. People watch Tavares come into the league and dominate. Scouts crown in the first overall pick 2 years before hand, the clear cut first pick, and they continue to watch him.
Game in and game out they watch him, one game they notice something, the next they notice something else. Pretty soon, they start to wander and see a kid in Brampton playing who is faster. Hmm, maybe he's better? So they watch him with the same eye they watched Tavares 2 years before. Not the one that breaks down weaknesses, but the one that looks at positives.
So they watch him, and watch him and pretty sure they've convinced themselves that this can be a discussion. Never mind the fact that this kid is a second line center and always has been and neve rmind the fact that Tavares just keeps pumping in numbers.
Eventually the draft comes along and enough people are saying that you could legitimately say that Duchene is better than Tavares because one is being scrutinized constantly and the other is being pumped up to make a discussion. Without discussion, the draft is boring because we all know who is going first. End result... they were right, were always right.
End result?
Yakupov is the first pick. Discuss the rest. |

Shush you. Hah. I'm positive Yakupov will go first, but I think I'm just thinking more long term and think Gally will have the better career. I worry about how many games Yakupov will play and how effective he'll be as his body breaks down.
I could be wrong. Maybe I shouldn't be concerned. Who knows.

B-Hud, give me 5 players that will be available between 15-20 that could be absolute game-changers for a team that takes them. |
