The Flyers going after Vitale had nothing to do with the hit on Briere, just like Asham going after Schenn while he was already involved with another Penguin had little to do with anything besides the cross check on Crosby.

It's a rivalry game. People need to stop acting like either team was clean and not engaging in shenanigans. Both teams played a chippy, even dirty game. Malkin speared Marc-Andre Bourdon. Crosby got away with slashes. Giroux did as well. Schenn cross checked Crosby after Crosby had cross checked him. I'm sure there were a dozen other instances of chippy or dirty play.

It's not the IceCapades. It's two hockey teams that dislike each other. That leads to chippy and sometimes dirty play. It leads to a coach with the last change to put guys like Asham and Eneglland out late in a game when they haven't played in 10 minutes to send a message.

And guess what...besides the Flyers and Penguins, there's 28 other NHL teams that do the same damned thing.

- Jsaquella

Malkin speared Bourdon? A little dramatic. For all the things you keep female doging about - complaining, I could put together a similar list. Pittsburgh got away with stuff, as did Philly. God knows, I'm still waiting for someone to layout someone on Filtyadelphia for that intentional knee on knee Rinaldo did to Staal in the second game of the year. We are still wait for that call too ... along with many many many others. I have never seen a collective fan base female dog more than your's.

Actually, considering most of what you posted, it wasn't worth any especial effort on my part to go back and look. I was just enjoying your trail of tears.

So, you can't read ... that is what you are saying. You can't go up to the poster I was referring to and check which team he supports. It's not hard. I will send you a retard map, since you need it.

That's a great retort, kind of like George Costanza's "The jerk store called and they're out of you!" You got a 5 year old writing for you?

I'm not complaining. Not anywhere in my post did I complain. I simply listed a few things that happened yesterday in the game and told fans of both teams to grow up and realize that both teams engaged in chippy/dirty play.

Didn't you just chide me for reading comprehension? Would you be the pot or the kettle in terms of that?

Retard map. My 7 year old kid just read that and asked if you had a problem

Best 1st round matchup in quite some time. EK, I'm gathering from your little playoff seeding rant that suddenly you think it should be changed because the Flyers will be forced to play the Penguins in the 1st round most likely.

Shouldn't you be worried about the Sabres making the playoffs?

Typical. (frank) off. Add something to the convo, rather than making some dumbass remark.

Stop it. It's not like Pittsburgh was sending Rinaldo, Carcillo and Dave Schultz out over the boards in that situation. Vitale, Adams and Asham is something to be upset over? LOL. You, like Lav are an idiot. I guess if you think that was inappropriate, then I guess Voracek scoring the empty netter seconds earlier was as well, since the game was over. See how stupid that comment was? Just like your's and everyone else who thinks it was classless, or gutless. Funny, this is a page taken from the Flyer playbook. That organization is the one who made this famous. And when its employed on them, they cry like girls. Maybe Lav should coach girls hockey.

You just wish you had a chance to crush the Pens in the play-offs. Losing to Toronto the other night puts your run into perspective.

- Oneonta Penguin

I don't get it. I make a statement about the Flyers/Pens game and then it's turned to the Sabres. I said nothing about the (frank)ing Sabres. Leave them out of it. The only perspective I have about the run is that it's not over yet.

This series is going to be interesting. Not a chance in hell you'll find a more intense Game 1 regardless to where it is played.

And not that this matters but the line of Asham-Adams-Vitale is often sent on to spark the team by crashing the boards and forechecking the hell out of a team. Not just a "goon" line. Actually Asham would be the closest to what is considered a goon on that line.

Good Job Ek, ever since your blog about the islanders and going down with class the isles have been blownout 11-4 in their last 2 games.

You really do have a nack for this curse thing.

I think it was Engelland as much as Asham. Neither team really has a goon line. Guys like Asham and Rinaldo can actually play the game as much as fight and start trouble.

I'm guessing that every coach who has ever stood behind a bench iced similar players, at least once, late in a game that seemed out of hand(scorewise) to send a message.

I enjoy the fireworks that followed, but the gutless remark seemed to be needless gamesmanship. Again, it's something both sides engaged in. Crosby's comments about the cross check he took from Schenn were in a similar vein-considering he cross checked Schenn moments before Schenn retaliated on him.

Guys get worked up and say dumb things after a physical and chippy game like yesterday's. Doesn't matter which team they get paid by

Not sure if it's still the case, but as recently as last week, it was mentioned that Cooke had more points than PIM.

My tivo cut off before all the festivities commenced, so other than a few clips and the banter here I don't have a firm grasp of what happened. I saw the hit by Vitale and it seemed clean. I didn't see Sid's crosscheck but did see a replay of the one he took. I hate Hartnell but the guys funny yucking it up. What was the gutless comment? I love the Flyer - Pen series, unfortunately the team that survives usually needs a week to recover.

Oh and I guess to stay true to my Pens brothern...The Flyers Suck!!!

You are an absolute idiot, just like anyone else female doging about this. Afterall, as you said, Philly invented this. You are now crying because it was employed on your team. Cry more ... like your coach. He needs to start coaching women's hockey.
- Oneonta Penguin

let's resort to name calling. pathetic.

there's no crying or female doging. just stating what happened. hockey's emotional. that's what happened yesterday. if you're going to initiate, you need to expect retaliation. simple as that.

looks like you're the one who's crying.

I agree I am a hardcore biased Flyers fan, but the Vitale hit was clean. But as everyone said it was the timing of the hit and who threw it. Vitale was playing very careless that game, and why wouldn't a whole team jump a guy who already injured one flyer? His "recklessness" already led to a knee on knee with Grossmann and you better believe that stuff like that sticks in a players mind. The flyers went after Kronwall on a beautifully placed clean hit but you do it to protect your team, you don't care if it's clean or not ESPECIALLY after he already was a factor in injuring another player.

Second the game was poorly ref'ed. Even my roommate who doesn't knot much about hockey (but cheers for the penguins over the whole Crosby Malkin hype) asked me why some of the calls where bad or biased to EITHER side. For example when Cooter got called for a hook on Orpik. Theres no doubting that Cooter hooked him, but Orpik clearly 100% grabbed the stick with his hand. In my league when that happens the ref either calls both players, or lets them both go and if a player flips poop over not getting a call, then the player female doging gets called. I believe that's what the nhl has to start doing, there is way too much female doging and complaining from players when a call isn't made. I'm sorry I have respect for Crosby in some ways but he still female doges wayyyy too much when something happens, there is no need to cry to a ref after every single missed call, well in my opinion that is the coaches job to let the ref know about it, not 5 players on the ice.

The hit by Vitale on Briere was clean. I have an issue with the knee to knee on Grossmann, but don;t think it was malicious, just careless.

Crosby's crosscheck on Schenn was not vicious, and Schenn didn't fall as Crosby did. It was the normal chippy stuff that happens

I hear where you are coming from. I did see the hook you are referring to, and I did think Orpik grabbed the stick, but to be fair that missed call happens every third game. As far as Sid female doging...he has curbed it a lot from when he was a rook, but in an emotional tilt like a Flyers game players may resort to doing the complaining...don't necessarily think crying is fair, but you are a fan of the "enemy" so, okay. Makes for great hype to lead up to what is going to be one hell of a series. And I look forward to the game day threads.

O I deffinately agree he has cut down on it A LOT since he was a rookie.. thank god or somebody whould of clubbed him good haha. I don't have much of a personal vendetta against Crosby himself, more or less against the media, feel bad for the guy, espechially nbc, I actually enjoy the penguins radio announcer, reguardless I digressed. But when we play anybody I hate anybody on the opposing team haha, so when the guy does something we all flip poop. Personally I have one on each team I flipp out for Pens=Crosby, Tampa=st. louis (ever since he slashed gagne without glove), Canadian=Suban... funny thing is I have all those guys on my fantasy hahaha.
