I see a goalie I want...a d-man I want...and a forward, or two I want. Just because "we" won't get them doesn't make the list suck...it makes "us" suck!

...after I cleaned up my original mess, I did get that far. Damn fine list there...doubt most of the real big names such as thiers get to the summer of 2013 without an extension though.

I totally agree with you. I have to say I am fine with Renney and I hope he is here next year as well.
People have seemed to quickly forget how are team played last year and especially the year before that. I am not talking about where we are in the standings, I am talking about when we lost we would usually get blown out, our PP was pretty much the worse in the league. We compete pretty much every game now and they are close games, our PP is #1 in the league and like you said we have a respectful PK, the coach has a lot to do with this.
During the games I see Renney talking to the kids after their shift, commenting on stuff etc. that is a coach that is committed to the rebuild and making sure the kids develop properly. I think we all agree that our future are the kids and I have to say that aren't disappointing, they are developing and are going to become elite. We aren't making the playoffs this year so why in Gods name would we, as many people are saying we should, give the kids tons more minutes, possibly putting too much pressure on them and possibly hurting their development when they are already doing fine. Plus the added chance that they get injured playing more time against other teams better players. Just look at the islanders, they have a great bunch of young talent but put way too much pressure and responsibility on them way too early and look how that turned out for them the last couple of years.

If Barker and Peckham are resigned by the Oil, I think I could possibly stop cheering for the team. And anyone who thinks we can get anything for either of them is looking through rose coloured glasses. They are both AHL defencemen and have no trade value at all!

Not really. ST made it clear when we drafted Hall that he had a five year plan. We are in year 2 and people are crying. Go look at WSH, LA, CHI, PIT, etc... none of them were anything special in 2 years.

We don't fight for the playoffs next year then start crying.

Teams called about Peckham at the TDD.

I believe this to be true but what I don't believe is that EVERY offer made was too low. How could that be?

I'd assume that instead of taking back a contract or a 5th rounder that the Oilers wanted to give Peckham one last shot.

I see the Bruins entire 4th line are UFA's, how about an entire new 4th line?

Also would swap Horcoff with Kelly for our 3rd line center.

- EastCoastOiler

it sucks but horc is stuck here unless they waive him......

I'd be down with Thorton/Lander/Eager as a fourth line, but i doubt B's let thorton walk.

Boston pretty much offered all their UFA's contracts a couple weeks ago. There is a good chance they don't lose too many guys.

Anyone notice how Horcoff is better at being Ryan Smyth on the power play than Ryan Smyth is?

Potter and Horcoff were impressive last night. Smyth looks like a shell of what he use to be.

Smyth is up and down. He still gets the points, but he just isn't the guy he once was. Like Belanger a smaller role will probably be the best for him and the team.

The Oilers need to add depth to the point where Smyth and Belanger can play a lesser roll. Thats the only way me make the playoffs. Same with Horcoff, in a perfect world Horcoff is our 3rd line center and Belnager is our 4th line center.

Well in a perfect world we are there already. Horcoff and Belanger are playing that role now. Smyth too is getting a lessor role.

The kids are getting ice-time as of late.
