Renney is right, fans are impatient. Everyone bought into the rebuild but then during the season get impatient. Renney should get a one year contract extension. Let it play out next season, let's see what we get. After next season if we aren't in a playoff race, Lowe, Tambellini, and Renney, all need their walking papers.
That is unless Lindy Ruff is fired. Then we go get him. - kingbrehm
Fans are impatient? I would say selling out a building every night for a 30th place team for 3 years doesnt look to impatient. Fans have a right to be pissed that no change is happening. Renney is a terrible coach, if we get our ass kicked one night its all "we put a good effort out there, it just wasnt our night." He accepts losing. Not to mention lowballing the kids minutes. Eberle has the least minutes out of the to 30 scorers in the league |

I'm not disagreeing with the ice time, that has infuriated me all season. But Belanger is playing less which is good for the team and it makes him more effective with less ice. Renney is not a terrible coach, he is exactly what the team needs. Finishing at the bottom of the league for 3 years is the point of rebuilding. A pure rebuild works that way. Selling out the building has nothing to do with patience and everything to do with a city loving hockey and seeing an exciting, albeit unsuccessful team. In a couple of years when we are battling Vancouver for the division title everyone will be singing a different tune. The only danger is turning into the Islanders, which is why everyone gets fired if next year is a flop.

Flyers could also end up having Pronger on LTIR and just letting Carle/Grossman/Kubina walk. - Lahey
Carle + one of the other two would go a long way here. |

Is Carle/Grossmann/Kubina really an upgrade on who we have? If thats what your getting at? - Oilfan19
Well Carle is playing the most minutes of any d-man on the Flyers who are a playoff team so yes he would be an upgrade. Grossman and Kubina maybe not on our top 4, but they'd be better than Barker, Peckham, and Sutton.
I don't know that we can upgrade Petry and Schultz and Smid, but I still think a defense by commitee might be the way to go. |

As mentioned earlier I think Renney's hands are tied with some facets of the team... Anyone with a brain could tell that the team needs to play the kids more if they want to win... that was not the master play midway this season... now that we all be secured the top 4 pick this year I am not sure why we are not changing some of the mentality... There is a fine line being walked... the kids are the future of this team... most of the kids are leaders and will be elite one day or have the potential to be and they REALLY want to WIN... if you WIN too much you do not get a prime pick... but if we do not start to show signs of WINning the future of this team demands a trade publicly or does not re-sgn... and then what you are/were building is completely ruined... Renney's balls are in a vise and there are many that have access to the handle... |

Anyone notice the (frank)ing idiot in the Nords jersey? These (frank)ing clowns forget that they hated the Habs?
It's like if Edmonton moved if I wore my Jersey in Ottawa when they played CGY. |

I agree, but hasn't the playing time change been reflected in Belanger playing 10 minutes? Eberle and Hall both saw over 19 minutes of ice last night, over 20 minutes against the Sharks, and Eberle over 21 against the Ducks. It's progress.

I still think this team needs a guy like hitchcock. If Renney cant figure out who needs the ice time on this team then he must not be too smart |

Yes, after the draft parameters were secured.... and that is likely why the games have been closer... |

Not hard to sellout when 80% of them are write offs for companies. |

So are we trading the pick this year? Are we drafting or trading down and then drafting? Are we taking Murray? |

Both are physical, shot blockers that play shutdown roles. They might not be exactly what we are looking for, but they would help this team. |

Not really. ST made it clear when we drafted Hall that he had a five year plan. We are in year 2 and people are crying. Go look at WSH, LA, CHI, PIT, etc... none of them were anything special in 2 years.
We don't fight for the playoffs next year then start crying. |

I still think there are better options. Barker wont be resigned so we dont have to worry. I dont think peckham will be playing for the Oilers next year. Maybe throw Teubert into a 6/7 role and see what happens? He was pretty hot and cold this year tho. |
