Zidlicky with a bone-head icing clear with a few seconds left in the game yesterday, and tonight can't keep the puck in the zone with a minute left, leads to a penalty/empty net goal.
Good start.
Havelid 2.0!!! - Jeffrey7146
Pretty sure there were 5 seconds left and that's the only way the puck was gonna get deep. I freely assume he was trying to put it on net. |

Also I'd like to get clarkson off the 2nd line. Put josefson as the 3rd line center move zubrus to 2nd line RW drop clarkson back to 3rd line RW and make bernier our 4th line RW. Clarkson ans sykora both aren't that creative and are bringing elias down. |

That was an awful game. Love how they were able to punctuate how bad they are by being shut out - shvingter88
even though tonight was a bad night for both teams i really believe that these are the two teams from the east that will battle for the right to play in the finals |

Yet when Tampa and Nashville do it they are some kind of villains. Pittsburgh trapped in game 7 of the stanley cup finals to win it and nobody talks about that. It just turns into if you're a big market team you can do whatever you want and if they don't like what the small market teams do they flip 'em off. It's like how earlier this year everybody was saying they were going to talk about the trap in the GM meetings but look where that got everybody. When you have Canadiens, Rangers, Flyers, Bruins trapping you know that there aren't going to be changes. - Pomegrant
You're right. And in addition, the other thing that always bothered me about it was that you still need good defensive players to do it well. Even the teams you mention above play defensive styles with varied degrees of effectiveness, because some of them have better defensive players than others. We never got credit for having a large number of guys with strong defensive awareness because it was the "system". Even with DeBoer's more aggressive system (one that I like because it seems to fit a number of our guys well) we play a strong defensive game most of the time. A lot of people don't get that part of it. It's not just the system that enables a team to play well defensively...it's a talent on the part of the players to play well on the defensive side of the puck. |

the 2nd and 3rd periods were beyond frustrating to watch.. not cuz the Rangers played great D.. but because we pa..pa..pa..pa..PASSED TOO MUCH!!! we'd have an opportunity and make pass after pass.. back passes, blind passes, intercepted passes. unbelievable. |

Not sure if its pure trap or not, but they definitely only had one forechecker in most of the third period, which is fine, it just should be recognized for what it is.
Parise really seemed to be neutralized by the size and checking of the Rangers defense. I've rarely seen him completely outmatched like that. He usually finds away to win battles down deep.
Zidlicky, the horrible defenseman we traded for, doesn't look at ease yet. I also wish Larsson didn't take himself out of position so much we he's hitting (and not connecting, too).
Weird, choppy, chippy game last night. Second period was great, but the third was a fun vacuum. |

Was driving me (frank)ing crazy last night! Nothing was worse when Elias stole the puck and had it right in front of Lundqvist and instead of going shelf he tries some behind the back drop pass for parise that got intercepted! We blew so many opportunities and barely tested Lundqvist. |

Obviously, he meant to go up high on him, but it looked worse than it actually was because Dubinsky saw him and stopped skating.
That changed the point of contact and basically caused Clarkson to "miss" the hit and go up as high as he did |

I was surprised that they never broke up the lines to try to get something going.
The top players were trying to do too much and everyone else wasn't doing enough. You're not gonna win many games when the Bernier line is the best line.
Body position is the thing Larrson struggles most with, it will come in time. |

Florida has OWNED the Devils. I'd be careful about that wish. Just like Philly a couple of years back, even though we were the upper seed. |

are you implying Dubinsky skated away and cried instead of doing something about it?
think you saw a different game |

In fairness, Dubinsky really didn't do anything about it except lose a "fight". And there's nothing wrong with that. If someone gets chippy with Zubrus or Bernier, they're probably not gonna do much about it either. That's fine.
The reality is that Rupp is the one that did something about it. |

Im implying that everytime duby loses a fight he comes up with some female dogy excuse why, this time apparently because clarkson only fights smaller guys. Which is weird considering Duby is the smallest this season and he's bigger than Clarkson... |

Don't be surprised by Rangers fans spinning Dubinsky as a victim. It's not like he didn't have a late hit on Parise earlier in which Clarkson was responding for. I think Dubinsky's lack of ability and 4.2 million contract speak for themselves. |

Dubinsky fights vs bigger players- 1 of 5 this season
Clarkson- 7 for 7
My only problem with his comments is that the rangers won, it was a hard-fought chippy game on both sides, and all the players left it on the ice. Except him. He seems like he's pouting because he got rocked. |
