We are starting to work better down low. But we know it often takes a bounce, deflection or rebound for us to beat Lundqvist. - BarryB1124
He is the best goalie in the league this season, we need more chances. I know this is a tight game but still. |

Zidlciky (the terrible defenseman we traded for) def. slew-footed Stepan behind the net 4 on 4.
Has a little edge to his game, gotta like it. - njdevils350
I think from now every time somebody says Zidlicky they should also note that he is a terrible defenseman that we traded for. |

We've been looking for the perfect shot and the perfect pass all the time and that's why we only have 10 (frank)ing shots on net. Rangers play great defense so we're not going to get anything perfect. Just dirty garbage goals. Somebody is going to have to start hacking and pushing the puck into the net. |

I don't think Fayne's quickness was the problem on the goal. His awareness was. He was gliding when all he had to do was maintain his position and keep his head on a swivel...and then he would be in position to intercept the pass. This problem is befalling the team of late. His awareness is usually more sound. But then everyone else is also generally better than they have been of late.
I would have liked to see Brodeur cover the short side better, and puck support from a forward so maybe Fayne would have been more comfortable maintaining his position. Brodeur made up for it with that save on the PP at least. That was pretty spectacular. - BarryB1124
He went (with his stick) to cover the lane on the boards first. Then as the play developed he couldn't adjust his feet to get his stick in the opposite lane to cover the front of the net.
His feet got stuck and he kind of twirled around aimlessly, leaving Hagelin open.
If he can just adjust his feet a little bit, there's no passing lane. |

Too many (frank)ing passes. Just shoot the dam puck. 0 shots this period. |

I just feel like he should not have been anywhere near the boards. The other D was already behind the net. Just maintain the post. Callahan is less of a threat than the person in the front of the net is. Though ultimately we agree either way that he made the key mistake in giving up the goal.

Yep. Way too fancy. I think Lundqvist gets in their heads to where they feel they have to make the perfect play. |

That was an awful game. Love how they were able to punctuate how bad they are by being shut out |

Its an interesting sociological experiment to Rangers fans this year. How do they handle being called boring while winning so often? |

Everyone played bad on offense today. Even Parise looked slow and tired. Kovalchuk was throwing great passes to everyone in blue. Zubrus is a (frank)ing oaf out there sometimes, I really think they guy is mentally handicapped. Ironically, I think Clarkson was our best player. Yes, the jumping penalty was stupid, but I think he generated most of the energy and possession for us tonight.
We'll never win with so few shots on net. The Rangers D is good, but not that good. We beat ourselves tonight. |

Maybe if he didn't botch the reception within the blue line he wouldn't have needed to take the hooking call. |

I love how Pierre McGuire was talking about how the Devils aren't a boring team anymore but then talks about how the Rangers are so great when the Rangers are basically what the Devils used to be. He's such a hypocrite just like most of the professionals in the league. |

Definitely true. Any time the Devils shut someone out it's "boring trap". Rangers played the trap for 2 periods tonight, and I don't think the commentators mentioned the word once.
Boston plays the trap almost every night and they're still considered an "exciting team". |

Yet when Tampa and Nashville do it they are some kind of villains. Pittsburgh trapped in game 7 of the stanley cup finals to win it and nobody talks about that. It just turns into if you're a big market team you can do whatever you want and if they don't like what the small market teams do they flip 'em off. It's like how earlier this year everybody was saying they were going to talk about the trap in the GM meetings but look where that got everybody. When you have Canadiens, Rangers, Flyers, Bruins trapping you know that there aren't going to be changes. |

Zidlicky with a bone-head icing clear with a few seconds left in the game yesterday, and tonight can't keep the puck in the zone with a minute left, leads to a penalty/empty net goal.
Good start.

Really? there was like 4 seconds left in the game and the puck was rolling on him when there was a guy covering him at the point when it was passed to him. |
