It's always nice to inquire I mean who knows right? Neal and nisk for Gogo? All that for Hossa which was a rental?
- nateca44

The other factor is that more times than not their GM Lombardi is one of the most conservative GM's. Although he has recently dealt for Richards and Penner. But both those moves haven't yet worked out the way he planned. Penner is a disgrace and Richards hasn't been the same since his concussion.

true. i understand never saying never, and as much as the kings could use a change, i dont think that their gm will be looking to move their captain. and yeah they would definitely want quite a haul if they did.

I played against him my senior year, he was either in 8th or 9th grade. He killed us for 3 or 4 goals. Two of which were on set faceoff plays. I like the Kunitz comparison. Problem here is they would definitely want a legit return. One that would probably at least cost a Despres or Morrow and then some.

thats awesome that you got to play against him though, regardless of the outcome

The Kings are in trouble. Sometimes if the pressure is so great even conserative GM's can make mistakes. Cue Billy Joel's 'Pressure'.

It's interesting to say the least in what would the outcome be if it would happen to be where as ok we take the risk of trading Despres or Morrow and some but they turn out to be nobodys like Caputi an we end up with a 30-40 goal scorer an a few cups, but on the other end, that is it a big wat if?

yeah it always is an if game, although id say the chances of morrow and despres being pretty decent are fairly high

Fair enough! They are d-man and I'm not for trading the future away but we have guys locked up for awhile on D an who says with adding a 27 yr old proven winger won't be the difference. Like you or somebody else said it's an if game but with the odds I'm willing to gamble. Maybe that's why I'm not a GM!

Despres and morrow are off the table but not untouchable I'd deal either one for the right player. Dustin brown would make me think about it. And I don't even know how many years he has left on his deal. I'd give up a 1st cooke and Lovejoy and burtuzzo for clowe. Thoughts on that.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Tuomo Ruutu, one of the top potential pieces that may be available at the upcoming NHL trade deadline, left Monday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens with an upper-body injury.
well if he is out for awhile this could speed up trades

There is always the chance the prospects won't pan out but morrow and Despres look like they will be pretty decent. I trust Shero and his ability to draft defenseman.

Actually, I think I read somewhere (maybe it was Tiops) that Shero has made it known that Despres, Morrow and Bennett are untouchable. Can't trade those kind of prospects.

hey sometimes you do have to risk it. i am just very nervous about letang leaving so right now the thought of having those two coming up is comforting. brown is definitely worth considering though if he ever was offered

Yeah I'm willing to bet that's just for pending fa's and 3rd liners.a guy like brown or clowe become available and he'd have to consider it.

Not clowe but brown

Shero will not move any of them until Letang's situation is clearer.

the fact he was swapped for ponikarovsky shows that he was not held in the highest of regards by management. even though i doubt shero thought poni would bomb like he did, he couldnt have expected him to light the world on fire

I can't see the Pens trading prospects for current NHL players with contracts. Salary won't work now or in the future. I think we'll see the typical UFA pick up for picks and maybe our 2nd tier prospects. Some of those guys (bortuzzo, stait) looked pretty competent earlier in the year.
