And to simply answer the question, no he should not be benched. He hasn't been that bad. |

If it wasn't for Malkin being on fire latley... The Penguins would be out of the playoff picture right now... |

If Miller wasnt on fire right now the Sabres wouldnt be in a playoff spot... oh wait. |

Going way out on the limb with that prediction.... Also in other news if you don't have good players your team wont win. |

I agree... I can't remember who said it, but I like the quote, "There are no bad players, just bad contracts." Not even saying that Martin's contract is that horrible, but if he was making $3 mil a year, a lot people would have a different whipping boy. |

Furthermore his cap hit is still the same whether or not he is in the lineup, you might as well play him. I mean he is not close to being in Whitney/Goligoski territory. |

And your point is?
He's a generational talent. He should be able to carry a team through difficult stretches. |

No. haha
and Martin isn't the only one struggling. As brought up before Z isn't doing so hot either. Z is just less bad. |

Exactly. Unlike last year when they compensated each other well that isn't/wasn't happening this year for some odd reason. I liked what I saw yesterday. |

Whitney was so terrible and wasn't he making $4mil/yr? You know you have a good GM when you can trade away Whitney and get more than the bag of pucks he's worth in return. Looking back at that trade and the Hossa trade are really amazing. |

Whitney was always dubbed as some kind of offensive defensemen but he never once did anything to create for himself. Crosby, Malkin, Gonchar, Malone, Sykora, all held his hand on the PP. He was the king of screwing up Crosby's back door slap shot passes.
Furthermore Martin throws the body around more than Whitney ever did. Whitney was a guy who lived off of his potential billing for a long time while being supported by some of the games finest offensive players. There is a reason the Ducks did not waste any time jettisoning him off to Edmonton. Visnovsky plays like Whitney was billed to be.
In an effort to not completely bash him, when he had time in his own zone he made a very nice breakout pass to skilled players with speed. |

Am I right in saying that Martin as a limited NTC? I think I heard that somewhere. What's the "limited" mean?

He can block trades to certain teams. |
