Am I right in saying that Martin as a limited NTC? I think I heard that somewhere. What's the "limited" mean?
- 71PENS71

Limited means he can pick an (x) amount of teams to not go to. That number would have been worked out in the language of the contract.

Furthermore his cap hit is still the same whether or not he is in the lineup, you might as well play him. I mean he is not close to being in Whitney/Goligoski territory.

We and myself included over look how bad z has been as well. They may not be terrible but they are the 3rd best pairing on this team and make the most money. That being said neither will be moved now. We are trying to win a cup. Maybe in offseason when they can pick up fa's to replace them.

I don't believe I have ever read the specifics of it in a credible outlet to be honest.

If you look around the league we really don't have it that bad.

the fact we are nit picking Martin's play is not a bad thing.....

As Gunner said, he has not been terrible, just his contract makes his play look bad. We have a great top 4 and solid bottom 2. A lot of teams would take on that 5M to have Martin in their line up.

I think some expectations on his offensive output have been too high and if you look at the plays where he gets beat clean to the outside, he is flat footed and reaching for the puck with his stick. A sign of a loss of confidence, Bylsma needs to get his confidence back before the playoffs begin, because unfortunately we dont win it if he is playing with no confidence, even with Sid back.

Z is in the same boat, but his confidence has not taken the bashing that Martin's has.

Hopefully separating them will help. They certainly looked better last night after they changed the pairings. I think too, with Martin especially, less may be more right now.

wont hear an argument from me on that one, Same for Letang with his shootouts, less will be way more than he is getting in those situations....

I hate that the shootouts are going to have such a big impact in the next two months...

a season's worth of them for the Pens (and they have had a ton so far) will ensure a lower seed. if they're healthy, though, it won't matter if they don't have home ice in a post season play-off series. and however you slice it, it will be a murder's row to reach the finals between some combo of flyers, rags, bruins, and devils to get through.

too true, I really dont want to play the devils, they have had this rosters number for a couple of years now, with and without Kovalchuk so really want someone else to take that one on, I dont feel too bad playing Philly, but the other two, sheesh.... Imagine having to play the Rangers and then play the Bruins in the ECF, just to get the privilege to play against Detroit (that is my call out of the west).

So in 3 cracks at the Cup they might all be against the Wings....

No we do that through you Walshy, it's just that you never provide enough details.

I'm going to guess kgr doesn't tell us about anymore of his dates. Assuming of course that fossill girl doesn't end up being "the one"

Yup, I was thinking of Orpik and Z's NTC. They can't deny being traded to 8 teams.

I haven't seen too many games this yr to make an opinion of Martin. The only player I have an opinion on is TK and he terrible shot choices. But I seem to remember everyone hating Hal Gill and how soft and slow he was. Now everyone wants Scuderi back and talks about how he was our best shut down d man. I remember him going againse OV in the playoffs and he still had like 8 goals that series. Pittsburghs fan memories are short and cloudy.

I believe all fan bases have short memories. I agree, I don't know where this Hal Gill love fest is coming from.

Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. We don't have those guys so we want them. Once we get them we will want some other new shiny object.
