Much of the draft was contrived, but that was to be expected at an ASG. The captains just so happened to end up with all their current teammates, all of their participating countrymen and a couple friends from other teams that they or their assistant captains wanted to take on their side.

Actually, I'm fine with that... That's how it would happen on pond hockey. Picking team mates would be a mix of talent and friends.

It seemed that there were a few more all-star rookies in the past few years - then historically. Although, I haven't looked it up - I'm sure the info is out there, somewhere.... It would be interesting to see the number all-star rookies each year.

Bill, you'd make a great agent for Bryz. Sure, he hasn't been routinely lousey but his inconsistency mitigates the great numbers he has in his wins. I'd almost prefer to have a goalie that is consistently mediocre than one who vascillates between great and godawful. What's a player supposed to think? Wondering which Bryz is going to show up. So, he's only bad in his losses? The Old Man is expecting much much more for his $6 million.

Actually, Bill's just being factual, unlike most of the retards that cover this team for a living, who need to drive a goalie debate to validate their jobs.

Bill is a hockey fan and avidly follows the sport on two continents. Sam Carchidi writes about hockey because he's been with the Inquirer for twenty years and they can't justify a guy with his salary covering high schools

What about Toronto and Philadelphia making a trade, having B. Schenn and Couturier going to Toronto, and Phaneuf + going back the other way..? (Phaneuf + Kulemin?)

The problem with bryz is more than just that. There are quite a number of times when you can go back and look at games where he flat out let the team down. No question about that. But there are also just as many games where you can watch the defensemen leave a guy 3 feet in front of their goalie, and let him snipe away at Bryz. I'd say there is equal blame to go around at best, and 70-30 bryz's fault at worst.
If you want a goalie that just flat out sucks, than by all means send Ilya down and bring back leighton.

Not that it really matters because its the All Star Game, but I found it interesting that Kimmo was chosen ahead of both Weber and Suter last night.

He was so smiley. It didn't even look like him. He's usually so serious.

I agree to the extent that the media is lazy and they love a narrative. That's in sports as well as hard news. I wouldn't call them retarded though.

agrEEd.

Watching that last night, I was thinking that it would be a blast to enjoy a drink or 2 while talking with Kimmo.

In terms of hockey knowledge and reporting, I'd say they are. People seem to think that just because a guy got assigned to the hockey beat, he's an expert. Not the case at all.

The local media is far more interested in drama than it is in covering the sport.

bill,
considering that even in his good performances, most have included a soft goal, I would agree w/ the assessment that bryz has provided sub par goaltending overall.

I dont think Bryzgalov can be any worse at this point. So im expecting him to be better after the ASB. The second half of the season is were he needs to come alive for the Flyers.

Highlights of the draft for me.

Kane "That blond is unbelievable"

Alfie "The Sedins have esp or something, they're aliens"

I felt bad for Couture but he's a good kid and winning an ugly car isn't that bad really.

Bob's loses numbers are almost the Bryz average numbers this season.

I guess when Bryz is bad he's really bad.

Gotta get some consistency from him, starting ASAP.

I'm not talking team here either, we all know how that works. Just talking Bryz

He was joking about it on twitter, took it well.

He tweeted late in the draft that it was getting hot in the room, then after the draft ended he said, I missed it who went last?

Then finally, he said, OK, first step is to pimp out this Honda.

Bryzgalov has to step it up and be better in the second half, moreso than anyone. It's time for him to put up the kind of performances that Bob has been.

Team Alfie had almost all the pretty boys with the rocking hair.

Karlsson made me laugh a couple times "Spezza is pissed"

I'm hoping for a Hartnell/Giroux/Stamkos line so we can see 91 pages of Stamkos to the Flyers rumours and redic trade ideas.

I am rooting for him, I like Bryz. He's crazy but he seems to be a really good man.

If he can get back to his normal form the Flyers will be in great hands.

I'd be happy if he just evens it out and matches Bob's level of play in most games. The problem is, even when he plays well, and allows a good goal, there's morons that rip him.

Even in the Devils game, where he was really solid, I saw some assclown tweet Bryz is back in the woods...That makes it worse than it really is. He gets consistent and the Flyers are going to be a hard team to beat.
