Biron gets the start tonight. That makes very little sense to me. - Pete V

Biron shut the Jets out last time they played, might have something to do with it too. |

It probably has something to do with Hank going to ASG, and all the flopping around he'll need to do there.
As has been said before, when you find yourself in serious contention, you have to go all in. If it means adding a piece or two if possible, that's what needs to be done. The Rangers could be the same club or even a little better talent wise next year and for unforeseen reasons not be in contention. Strike while iron is hot. |

Dubi for Selanee are you out of your mind? I would not want to trade Dubinsky unless it's for someone who is young like he is. Selanee is approaching retirement why would we do that?
I would do this
Dubi, 2nd tier prospect , and a 1st for St. Louis. - adwolf130
I thought if we would get Selanee we would have to clear some cap space, and their contracts are similar, but then Jimbo pointed out that we're fine with cap space so I was thinking that we might be able to do it with just picks and prospects. |

Marty St. Louis!!!! Honestly though I find it actually very realistic that we inquire about him. I see no reason why he wouldn't waive his NMC to have a chance at a cup and play with his good buddies Richards and fedotenko. Plus torts who he has won a cup with and if I remember correctly didn't he say to the media last seasOn after they beat Carolina for us to get into the playoffs that Torts has done a lot for his career? |

He has become a very unlikeable player lately, he was one of my faves just 2 or 3 years ago. Ever since he was a no show for Russia during the Olympics 2 years ago he has dropped off the map in my opinion.
Still would take him in a red hot second if somehiow he was ever made available. |

Against the weaker sisters and non-rivals, within the conference, I have no problem with Biron getting the nod in net.
Hank needs to play but not be overworked. The Rangers have a gem of a back-up in Biron, why not give him some games, especially against teams they should beat regardless of who starts?

he has become extremely flaky of late.
What a killer cap hit he has too, 9.538 million a year until 2020
one of the few contracts where they didn't add a few years at the end at no money to lessen the hit.

I wouldn't, terrible contract and he has been on a steady decline for almost three seasons.
Not saying he sucks because that would be far fetched but the money and the length of the contract in his deal, combined with his pededstrian numbers lately, makes him untradable. |

If Alex Ovechkin were put on the market, I still think virtually every team would be interested in him irrespective of his cap hit. The cap hit is brutal, but I think most teams would be willing to live with the hit, and roster another player in the $1-2 million range, rather than a $4 million player that they would be able to roster if he were making say $6.5 million a year.
With that said, he's not going anywhere. |

Just isn't the same player that was tearing the league apart right out of the lockout gates.
A top ten winger still? Absolutely. But that guy would definitely drive the coach crazy. There are some games, like on Sunday, where he looked like the old Ovechkin.
Then there are games, like that Islanders game last week, where he looked like a complete shell of a first line winger.
I am all in on this St Louis proposed trade scenario though. He would definitely fit in with the coach and he is still a dynamic offensive player, regardless of his age.

#NYR G Martin Biron will NOT play tonight. He is out sick with flu. Will be Lundqvist in goal vs. WPG; Chad Johnson (ocho cinqo) to back up |

If he was just getting a couple million dollars less than what he is actually getting, I think you are 100% correct.
But how can any team justify paying a player 10 million dollars, all the while having to give up top prospects and top young roster players in order to get him, just so they can pray that he returns to the 2005-2010 Ovechkin?
The risk is way too grandiose for any logical GM to even consider.
But you are correct though, he is the face of the Caps, despite the recent struggles. That team would fold faster than a lawn chair from Kohl's if he is no longer apart of it.

I don't mean to sound prejudice or anything, but any team that gives any Russian one of these 10 year deals is out of their minds. Ovechkin, Kovalchuk and Bryzgalov are huge mistakes.
One way or the other, they all seem to have a very flaky side.

Perfect time for Biron to get sick though. A weekk off should definitely return his health back to normal.
Hank is off the rest of the week, unless you consider that BS exhibition taking place on Sunday, actual work.
Hank in net against Uncle Daddy and the Devils next Tuesday, while Biron goes to Buffalo to remind his old team what they got rid of.
Everything is still right on schedule to me.

Datsyuk is worthy of a ten year deal. But he is the exception and cetainly not the rule.
The scariest handle I have ever seen. Maybe Kovalev was a little better but since I can't stomach Kovalev(I have my reasons) Datsyuk gets the nod.

Datysuk is an unreal hockey player. He might not put up the point totals that some other players do, but he's the best all around player in the league in my opinion. Also, you have to say Malkin is worthy of such a deal. The guy is an excellent player, arguably the best in the league right now. |
