Good points. I tend to believe there is more to this story that is known in the public. There almost has to be, the organization just doesn't get rid of cornerstone players for the hope of getting better with younger more unproven players, especially when you are playing in a big market like Philly.

I think at some level, Richards and Carter have some accountability in their trades yesterday.

THey won't be 27, so it won't be. The point is, these two took contracts in which the Flyers did not show them the money (that they would have gotten if they'd signed shorter-term deals and gone free agent at the first opportunity).

they're millionaires for life, they'll be ok...these are guaranteed contracts outside of an expensive buyout. Strickland tweets that Richards was told that the moves were made in part because of the need for a "culture change". iow, they earned their way out of town in flyer mgmts eyes. I don't like the whole deal, but that's the way of major league sports.
