Players signing with the Flyers in the future will be aware of what went down yesterday.

What happened yesterday is what happens when you have an unbalanced team and leaders who fail to lead. No more, no less.

Didn't seem to bother Bryz none.

Yeah it's female dogging saying that I think Carter and Richards deserved a little more respect.

It's not. They were well thought out comments.

I'm really glad to read comments like this, because I think it's true.

the biggest issue I have is that one year ago, they felt strong enough about Carter to sign him to an 11 year deal. Same for Richards on a 12 year deal 2 years ago. They go to the Finals in 09/10. And one disapointing Season and they slam on the breaks, say woa, we need to go in the other direction and make a complete U turn. Doesn't make sense to me. If they're worried about the long term financial deals, they just signed a 31 year old player to a 9 year deal. Doesn't make sense to me to trade for Pronger, sign Bryzgalov, then do this.

- MJL

I brought this up yesterday or this morning and nobody even responded. I have grave concerns now about resigning giroux or jvr or any other young star. Why should they believe anything the flyers say now. Their agents won't budge an inch.

What do you mean by an unbalanced team?

Of course it doesn't bother Bryzgalov. he just signed a deal for 51M.

You have to wonder if they were traded in part because of their long term deals.
Homer loses confidence that having these two tied up for 10+ years (to big cap hits) was the right thing to do. He makes the trades and gets out of his mistake.

Richards said yesterday he would have never signed the long term deal if they were going to trade him.

Carter certainly could have made more money testing the open market then the 5.2M he signed here. He sacrificed some money for the idea that Philly wanted him as a cornerstone of the team for his career.

They did get the shaft in this regard.

Players signing with the Flyers in the future will be aware of what went down yesterday

Really? So did they do Briere, Kimmo, and Hartnell dirty also. I'm not defending the organization blindly, but let's not make it seem now that everybody would be leary of coming to Philly because of this. This team has always shown a win at all cost mentality (certainly made a lot of mistakes over the years) and pays top dollar.

Forgot about Lappy and Hatcher - guess they were done dirty also. (sorry, sounds like I'm trying to be a d&ck, just pointing out the other side).

I'm sad to Carter and Richards to go, but it is still a franchise players will want to go play for in the future.

So was Landeskog. Unfortunately, Dougie will be gone if we still have that #8 pick.

Homer perceived that he made a mistake, and did what he thought he should do to correct it yesterday.

To me it shows that he is learning the cap world and how to be a GM as he goes along.

He certainly is not sticking to any one plan, he changes plans at the moment to do what he thinks is the best.

I think he has guts for pulling those moves yesterday. But it doesn't inspire confidence that there is a master plan behind all these moves.

I have a suspicion the Flyers won't stay at #8. Just a hunch. They might move up or down. That I'm not sure. The Flyers MO is to never stand pat.

To me, that is the worst part of this. Those guys were not treated that well in this whole thing.
- Jsaquella

I have to agree. This might make the Flyers better, and I was not a fan of Carter's game, but I would like to point out:

Carter played a po series with a separated shoulder and another with a strained MCL
another with one broken feet which had just healed and yet he was willing to stand in front of the net for Pronger slapshots
Barely missed a game without a very legit injury
had exceptional goal numbers during the regular season
agreed to play out of position without much visible dissent
Took an obvious paycut to stay in Philly

I thought he was a poor fit, but for an organization that is supposed to be based on loyalty, the manner of departure was pretty brutal.

Overloaded offense. poop goaltending. On a team up against the cap. Moves are bound to happen in that scenario or it'd just be more of the same next year.
