From the 2000 Entry Draft through the 2006 Entry Draft, a total of 16 defensemen were selected in the top-10. Only two of those players remain with the team that drafted them.

Percentages are a lot higher with forwards and goalies.

There is a heavy, heavy dose of dmen this year, unlike any other. I predict 5/10 will be dmen. Possibly 6.

Toronto is going to have a pretty decent defense next season
Schenn, Liles, Komisarek, Phaneuf, Aulie Gunnerson.

liles is a solid dman. Not worth 4.2, but still solid. Better than Carle, just as good as Cobrun, possibly Mezzy. Phaneuf is ok, Komi sucks.

Larsson is felt to have the higher upside. Landeskog is felt to be most NHL ready guy in draft, but concern is that he doesn't have the upside.

If I'm picking in top three, I want the guy with massive upside over guy who is "safer" pick. Both guys are safe, Larsson could be absolute beast.

At least he can chip in offensively, block shots, and play solid defensively. Not to mention his leadership and experience. Liles is strictly offensive-minded, and a very inconsistent player.
