I get it, he is a talent in the same class as Ovechkin, Malkin and Crosby. The Flyers however are not in a position to have a player with a cap hit anywhere around 10 million dollars. They'd be going back to having a two pair defensive rotation for the playoffs and no third line what so ever. Thanks but no thanks.
- rshnk29

They can put themselves in that position by moving a player like Hartnell. Pretty simple.

What about Brooks Laich? 6'2 210lbs
- Richards18

More of a 2nd liner, IMO and more costly. Wouldn't be opposed at the right price. Like his position flexibility.

Love to see them bring Schenn into the fold piece-meal like they did w/ Carts and Richie. Have him concentrate on getting up to speed and learn the ropes on the defensive side of the puck before they give him a bigger role. He was only getting 4th-line duty and was being spotted on the top-lines occasionally in LA...

Are you agreeing or disagreeing that bringing him as a 3rd line center is bringing him in softly?

Bring in Laich to play with Schenn and whoever his other winger is going to be. Talbot can come in and play on the 4th line with Betts and either Powe or Nodl. you do this though and you are no longer able to afford Stamkos or Richards.

A third line of Laich-Schenn-Simmonds?

He can play in front of the net like Knuble did.
He is going to be overpaid as a free agent, but I'd take him over Leino right now.

Voracek, everyone is slotting him with G and Jvr, but he may be perfect with Briere the way he plays. Especially if Leino wants 4M and isn't re signed.

If Leino isn't re-signed, I agree, Voracek would be a good replacement on that line -- as long as they have chemistry. You never know until they get out there.

I think bringing in a big-body like Gaustad would be ideal, for match-ups and faceoffs. Schenn can play the wing as well as center, so they can move him around if needed. As long as they have a spot that he can earn, I'm happy. What I wouldn't want is for Homer to try to build a July-August paper champion/full-proof lineup and leave no room for eventualities like a kid(s) having a great camp.

Love Laich as a player and leader, but his offensive numbers are grossly inflated from the guys he plays with and all the PP time he was getting. Simmonds = Laich in the long-term, in my estimation.

I agree. I would love to see them bring in the prototypical shut down 3rd line center to build a legit grind-it-out 3rd line and really stack their top two lines with talent. I have always felt the grind-it-out type of third line was essential to a teams success

That's far, I think Laich is a much better penalty killer at this point in his career. I also think that you can't ever have too many of that type of player either. We now have a 5.6 million dollar goalie, the more defensive help we can give him the better.

Talbot that's player you love to hate on the other team but love him when he's on your team. The concern for me is that Pittsburgh doesn't bring him back because he wasn't too much cash.

Yea, I wonder who it is he is friends with that will keep him here now? Richie and Carts is gone. Upshall and Lupul are gone... Not quite sure Hartnell has any reason to Stay vs Go if they ask him.
