Unless stamkos doesn't want to stay there
- funmaster18

It certainly is a possibility. Stevie Y is a smart guy, I can't believe he would leave the possibility of Stamkos signing an offer sheet. Something is very curious going on down in TB.

It could be just as simple as Stamkos deal is done, but the team wants to move salary to accomodate the new contract. TB market isn't the same as the Flyers, gotta believe the team's payroll limit isn't near what the Flyers will be.

If I'm Homer, I have to at least make the phone call.

I have seen Richards play enough against the Habs and other teams and in the Olympics, Juniors etc to realize he is an elite player and leader. He killed the Habs last season when u beat us out in ECF and was great in the Olympics for a gold medal winning team.

u were robbed

How did he perform in last year's PO's?

So did Paul Holmgren. He didn't trade mike without putting thought into it.

A little grain of salt regarding Stamkos:

Do we know for sure that he's not experiencing any ill effects from that puck in the face?

I think they will still try and get a big name player through trade, that fills the "character" description Holmgren stated yesterday. Today should be exciting and Im happy to have franchise/GM who try to improve the club despite the risks.

Exactly. Which is why it's fun to fantasize about it. At the end of the day, though, I'll be interested to see what gets done to shore up the current lineup.

Shame fans of other teams don't have big things going on, and can only live vicariously through us.

Definitely a seriously enticing thought. Stamkos is the 2nd best players in the world (arguably). There isnt a single player on the flyers i wouldnt give up for him.

I have a sneaking suspicion they try to move up in the draft by trading a forward (versteeg to florida with the 8th would be ideal) and draft either larson or landeskog.

If they were able to Landeskog i could see them doing that, and using their other picks to focus on d-men. With the resulting money they could get another winger, and maybe a d-man like Erskine...

Landeskog, Cole, Erskine would be perfect (fantasizing )

picks may turn out they may not - Carter and Richards took u to The Finals & are proven winners.

Bryz is overrated - had terrible playoffs last 2 seasons.

Don't try and spin it - terrible deals especially Carter

Good business move, then, eh?

Hey, saw the Habs re-signed Markov. Good move. Keeps the status quo. Speaking of which, how has that status quo worked out lately?

Absolutely they will.

I'll miss Richie, but I'm excited about the talent that we've already added. And to think that we could add Dougie or Landeskog tomorrow has me salivating.

I'd really like to add Cole via FA too. He's the "character" guy this team could use. Imagine him on a line with Simmonds and Schenn.

- LeachHextall27

Everyone loves Cole but from what I've seen, his play is borderline reckless.. which is why he is so injury prone. Cole will cost 3mill.. why not go after a skilled LW 30 goal scorer like Marco Sturm who is UFA and would cost a little more than Cole at around 3.5 mill ? Or cheaper LW options like Fleischmann, Miettinen or even Samsonov(who had a stellar past season!). Or solidify the weakened center position with a guy like Laich who would cost 3 mill or less.

I was very high on Versteeg when he came here, loved his play in Chicago and Toronto, but he's been a bust here in my eyes. I know he had a sports hernia and was playing thru that injury but I just think his 3 mill could be better spent on Sturm or any of the above mentioned UFA's.
