You have to make moves at the draft. Simple as that. The Flyers have the 12th overall pick and whatever Florida lands on when all the smoke is clear. They have to do more. I know the easy answer is to get another first for this year or next year. Personally I like a move more so what Mike Richards alone brought. A very young roster player and a prospect that might be ready to make the leap the the NHL. Does this Travis Konency hold this type of value? Probably not but first round picks aren’t the end all. Get young. Bring in youth. [/img]

Yup. They really need to make a major move somehow. 12 and a late 1st isn’t going to cut it. They really need to move TK and get some young centers in here and start concerning themselves with building around Michkov. Nothing against TK at all but this team badly needs centers with high upside right now.

Unless they magically can move up from 12 I don’t see think they’re getting that center in this draft class.

There's a very good chance of getting one of Helenius, Catton, Eiserman or Yakemchuk at the 12th pick.

Konecny likely wouldn't bring back a comparable return to what Richards brought back from MA -- Schenn, Simmonds and the 2nd round pick traded before the 2012 deadline for Nick Grossmann --in part because he's a UFA at the end of next year while Richards had just signed a long-term deal. A comparable trade would also have to be with a team that sees itself in contender position that also has a top-end prospect, a rising young NHL roster player and a 2nd round pick it would part with.

Bill, any idea the perception of Trevor Connelly. Bob McKenzie in his pre draft lottery rankings speaking with 10 scouts had Connelly in his top 15 rankings. Do you believe he gets picked in the 1st rd?

The Marner talk yesterday got me thinking. How about this hypothetical 3 team trade idea?

Toronto gets:
Chychrun
Konecny - 50% ret
Anton Forsberg
CLB 2nd (from PHI)

Ottawa gets:
Marner - 20% ret
Ristolainen - 50% ret
Brink
Laughton
ANA 2nd (from PHI)

Flyers get:
2024 OTT 1st (7th ovr)
2025 OTT 1st
2026 TOR 1st
Reaves (from Toronto)
Kampf (from Toronto)
Joseph (from Ottawa) all 3 players are salary dumps)

I checked cap friendly and all the salary would work and each team would even have some space left to sign players. Toronto would even be able to still keep guys like Bertuzzi and Domi etc if they wanted.

There is no reason TK couldn't return a 1st and prospect, they may not be high value ones, but I expect nothing less.

Now if the Flyers are bringing back a roster player with cap/term to make the deal work then those asset values better be good ones. I'm tired of seeing other GMs getting these deals done, but the Flyers always have excuses why they can't. A 1st and prospect/young roster player is very reasonable.

Not a big fan of either Helenius or Yakemchuk at #12, depending who were selected before....so that means the Flyers will probably take one of them or take someone lower in the draft who is a "riser".

Personally I like the concept, but I don't see Briere being that bold to make a deal like that. Also I feel like Ottawa gets the short end here, they are giving up a lot of value compared to what they are actually getting.

They aren’t trading TK. Save your brain cells and yourselves some stress and know that this team is always going to get it wrong.

Briere can’t take a piss without asking Tortorella. Not a drop unless he asks. He won’t make any bold moves unless it is directed by Tortorella.

So, who is on the coach’s list? Is it Frost? Farabee? Atkinson?

Briere will only work off of that list.

No, the more comical thing is how China...yes China, is trying to fight the TikTok ban by using the Constitution and the 1st amendment.
