Joseph as a salary dump comes from rumors last summer/fall about the Flyers trying to get Pinto and Ottawa wanting them to take Joseph as a salary dump. Whether those were true or not, who knows, but that’s where that thought came from.

Why so many moving pieces? Why not? All 3 teams get a big shake up which they all need. Toronto gets a top pair defenseman which they desperately need and they get TK which softens the loss of Marner offensively. Ottawa gets an elite forward in Marner. Imagine Tkachuk/Stutzle/Marner as a top line. They get Risto as their 4/5 defenseman, a young winger in Brink and a solid 3rd liner that can slot anywhere in the lineup in a pinch in Laughton. Plus he brings some leadership to help with their young roster. As for Philly, it really positions them to upgrade their prospect pool immediately and down the line. At the 7th pick, they get one of the top defenseman, than still have 12 where they can go anywhere with, like if Eiserman drops, the risk isn’t so bad because they already had the 7th. They’d also then have 3 picks in 2025, and 2 in 2026. Reeves they can move or dump in the AHL. Kampf and Joseph can fill out the roster from the loss of these other guys until some young players can come up. The idea is the Flyers would be much worse next season, therefore hopefully securing a top 5 pick to draft one of the top centers.

I get it. I understand the knowing vs the unknown. And i am not saying I want to move farabee. But this team as currently constructed is not going anywhere in my opinion. My goal is to build a team for when Michkov comes over. Put pieces together so that they fit with his arrival. That is why I would not extend konecny. I would look to move Laughton.

But they need to get creative. Farabee I think has value. I think wings are easier to find then centers.

You might lose the value now but in the long run it could help you become a better team if that makes sense.

You just gotta hope your scouts know what they’re doing and trust their evaluation. At the end of the day if they move up and get a guy who becomes a true #1D, there’s no way they lose that trade.

Someone was saying they didn’t want to give up Farabee, a 50pt player, because he was a known commodity, plus a late first for a top 10 pick that you don’t know how they will pan out. If Utah or Ottawa wanted that trade you make that trade every day of the week. Especially if your scouts are telling you one of those top defensmen will be a #1.

On a side note, Erat and Farabee actually have a similar rate of production at this point of their careers.
