Not in his first year like this group. This group has/had the opportunity to get off on the right track. They talked the smack about the construction of the team and what needed to be done and then did a 180 on it... - boonerbuck

I’m glad you like “drawing”….
Luck obviously plays a part in drafting 18 year old kids but you can only explain the Vancouver Canucks lack of drafting ability to incompetence. When you have a large sample size, it is what it is. - Pacificgem
Luck and trading away picks for decades has been an ongoing issue. |

Kesler and his 1 team trade list?
Gillis tied JB's hand on that even. It was a take it or leave it deal and zero position to negotiate from. |

You said he had no players to trade, I just gave you two players he traded that brought back decent return. But he turned that decent return into Tanner Pearson. Whoopie |

You must be only reading parts of sentences and filling in the holes. I never said he didnt have players to trade. I pointed to the NTC's which Kesler falls under. I said he didnt have a Miller to trade... and why I said that was Miller has no NTC.
Kesler wasnt a 99 point player. In fact he never even made it past 75 points. |

Goes back to my comment about never committing to an actual rebuild. It may not lead to a Cup but 50+ years of re-tooling looks like what we’re seeing. |

Incompetent management seems to be an ongoing systemic issue within the organization. They keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. |

2015 the NJ Devils started a rebuild, around the same time the Canucks started with their poor finishes. They look to be in such a better place than the Canucks do right now. Luck was on their side but they purposely played their hand that way. They gambled and won.

They are doing well, with some nice prospects.
Hopefully they want to have all 3 Hughes brothers next season |

I shut the game off after that weak hooking call on Hughes after the missed one on horvat which prevented a scoring chance, I’ve had enough of this league I didn’t even look at the final score lol |

How is it that teams like Pittsburg and Edmonton can acquire multiple actual generational players and we have to put up with this crap for most of the teams existence. Hard to fathom the organization has never drafted first overall. - Pacificgem

In the history of the Canucks they have been always the loser. Issues with Ownership, Management, Coaches, Players and drafting. There really was never a moment of championship.
Maybe it’s time to embrace being bad. Perfect it on purpose. Let go of hope just embrace years of futility. Will fans pay for that? |

Maybe instead of buying the Sens, Ryan Reynolds can buy the Canucks? Team up with Michael Buble? Christmas is coming around so Buble should have some extra royalty money coming in... |

It's early but Canucks need to find a way to compete with SJ and Ana for worst in the division but also enjoying losing. Two years to shed contracts and get 2 high picks. Quick re-tool.
It's so Canucks to watch other teams in their division drop below them in the stronger drafts. |
|

Things should get easier for the Canucks now. They get to play Boston, Buffalo, Kings, Vegas, Avalanche and Vegas again.
Should be able to get at least 2 points out of this part of the schedule. |

Except that that particular narrative is that the refs are crooked and handed the game to Toronto, which isn’t what happened… |

Fair enough, just sounds like you’re making excuses for Jim B. Some fans have suggested he had been doing it all wrong the entire time, not just the last couple years. I believe year two, Sutter trade and signing and Sbisa extension was the tipping point for one young lad in particular.
I do agree that the new group had an opportunity for franchise changing moves and just did more of the same, so far at least. |
