He’s 22. He wasn’t dominant for long stretches, and looked good during his call-up. I’ve been cheerleading Niku since 2015. He’ll be fine. - Rexypoo
I thought Morrissey wasn’t ready and he proved me wrong. Now I am saying Niku needs a bit more seasoning and to bulk up.
I am hoping to go 2 for 2 being wrong in the readiness assessment, but I guess we will see. |

Gees. Thanks for discovering him Rexy.
BTW...I guess all us hockey neophytes never watch or follow the U17's ,WJC18, and WJC championships every year, or follow the progress of all our prospects stats on a near-weekly basis. The kid only started to shine when he joined the Liiga league and in 2016 and also helped his team win the WJC.

I have no idea what argument you’re making here. I watched the draft in 2015, saw the Niku pick, went “who the hell is that guy?”, then found all the information I could. Since then, I’ve been a cheerleader.
Additionally, Petan and Dano got qualifying offers. Morrow didn’t. I feel this is a victory. |

Niku is ready. He was the best dman at the second highest level of play. He’ll be even better this year. Myers is completely incapable of playing his off side, especially in the defensive zone (an argument can be made that he can’t play in the defensive zone at all, tbh).
You trade Myers. His value will never be higher, he’s VERY overpaid, and he’s blocking Poolman.
You do not trade Perreault. He’s making way less than he’s worth, missed games or not. - Rexypoo
Myers misses games, he’s injury prone.
Perreault and Trouba miss the same amount of games, they are keepers!
Rexypoo you lack consistency when it comes to player evaluations. |

It’s not a victory. In fact it means very little. |

Im not arguing with you, I took notice of him when he was drafted and was actually there. Not too many 7th rounders are in the building, but Niku honestly thought he was going in rounds 2-4. My point was simple, the past winners of top D in the AHL is not impressive, and shouldn’t be used as a selling point. that’s all. |

I am dissapointed that Jamie Phillips got released. I had high hopes for him. |

What it means for Petan and Dano is that they can't become a free agent and are instead going to have a salary determined by an arbitrator. By the rules the qualifying offer can't be less than a 5% bump which translates to about $890K for each of them. The average Moose player makes about $100k less than that. Any arbitrator is not going to give them much more because they showed absolutely nothing last year that might merit a raise. Chevy opted to do this so he can keep some trade bait value although I still hold out some hope for Petan.
So I'm not sure what "victory" it is. These guys are in the exact same boat as last season. |

No big surprise to me. Teams move on to the next crop, just like Hutch and Boston. |

A: I never mentioned injuries, you did. Let’s also remember Myers missed basically an entire season one time.
B: That’s because Trouba is 24 and elite, Perreault is cheeeeeap and borderline elite, and Myers is a high end 3rd pairing dman with a low end top pairing cap hit. |

Now is literally the worst time to trade either. You won’t get what they’re worth, and you’ll absolutely lose the deal when they’re in the NHL for another team. Now is the time to move Armia and Tanev. |

They didn’t “move on” from Hutch. He was a waiver claim. |

Whatever. He signed as a free agent with the Jets in July 2013 after signing a three year ELC with Boston in March 2010. He is not with Boston anymore so they must have moved on. |

I don’t think any of the four names mentioned garner more than a third rounder. |

I hope so. We need some free agency and trade therapy for the masses. |

You’re probably right. Armia and Tanev have a higher value in a trade, by far, then they do on the roster. Move those two and go with the younger, better players in Petan and Dano |

I was genuinely upset at how boring the draft was. With Carlson and Tavares gone before it starts, I’m not all that confident in FA being any better |

If Tanev or Armia were only worth a third rounder I think every team in the league would have made offers. Tanev is easily worth a 50% bump in his salary. He is the perfect third or fourth line forward who works his but off and is getting better every year. He led the team in hits and forechecks hard. He still has upside. Don't forget the hatrick. He can score.
Vegas had success because they had six or seven Brandon Tanev type players on their team. These type of players are in high demand. You don't give these type of players up. Not a chance.
I am a bit more divided on Armia. He is one of the strongest Jets along the boards , an excellent stick-handler and who has shown flashes of brilliance. Can play the PK. The problem is that unlike Tanev, Armia doesn't show up each and every night, hence my reservations. Maurice thinks Armia has a lot more upside as a scoring forward though. Worth keeping. I think he's worth a mid-second round pick. |

If there were a credibility gauge needle that moved around based on your comments it would move to zero everytime you mentioned Petan and Dano.

Tanev and Armia are 26 and 25. They are at their absolute ceiling. They’ve had chances on lines 2-4 for multiple seasons now, and have shown nothing but flashes in the pan. Neither can play defence, neither has a positive effect on puck possession, and neither can score.
I love Tanev with Lowry and Copp because they cover his defence and help him find space. If he’s with them, he can stay. Any time he’s away from Lowry, it gets really, really bad. |
