No, they're not.

Botts isn't just going to give him away.

So what you're saying is there's a chance Buffalo might be overvaluing him like a bunch of Toronto fans?

Exactly. There are 30 other teams that would love to have him, but his cap hit and the price to acquire him make it a tough deal.

Bergevin already confirmed that will not happen.

Habs might trade Pacs for a 1st and prospect and they would then flip that 1st back to Buffalo with a player TBC for O'Reilly

too complicated....very slim odds of happening

He's owed 7 million dollars or something like that as a roster bonus. No team wants to pay that. Terry Moneybags Pegula will pay it and then Botts will wheel and deal. He'll be traded after July 1st, after Tavares signs, for players/prospects and 2019 1st round pick.

EDIT: The free agent centers are garbage after the top 2. There are teams that want him, and there are teams that need him. Whether they can self-identify that is up to them.

If the Sabres dont trade ROR today, they aint trading him.

I dont think they trade him at all but "pro" hockey fans apparently thing Cs that play 25 mins a game, plays PP and PK grow on trees - I remember 2006 Conference Finals when the Sabres couldn't win a faceooff to save their lives..... unless its a super sweet deal - we have enough picks, enough time rebuilding, lets start playing.......you trade ROR, you better at least get Max Pac (with an extension) back and or #3 - toss in Drouin for Risto, cool....no BS tho.

So this means he's getting traded today for a healthy haul. Good to know.

Sabres don’t need to move him so who cares, they aren’t selling him to a division rival at a discount

Yeah, and teams did not want to take on Kane because they were scared that he would be a problem. Well, maybe he was a problem 5 years ago, but not now. There were some teams that could have gotten Kane and A) made the playoffs, or B) gone deeper in the playoffs. San Jose got a steal. ROR has value, strange that the GM and Coach of Team Canada were not too concerned about his speed in the last World Championship Tournament, nor were the GM and coach of Team Canada's World Cup team 2 years ago.

Totally agree. ROR doesn't go anywhere until JT is settled.

These rumours that O'Reilly will be moved for the 3rd overall pick seem odd to me. Does O'Reilly really have that much value? He has decent production, but its really just good C2 production. He is not a true C1. He is also signed for 5 more years at $7.5M, which seems a bit high and very long. The dollars might be close to right, but 5 more years is a huge commitment for a player that will be out of his prime for 2-3 of those years. How many teams are lining up to take on that player at that contractual commitment? How does that translate into the 3rd overall pick? Since 2005, only 8 top 10 picks have been traded at the draft and none higher than the 5th pick. O'Reilly is a good player, but at his rate of production, his age, his salary and contract length, there is no way he is worth the highest draft pick ever traded in the salary cap era.

O'Reilly should be able to find his own partners.
