I view 46 and 40 the same way. If you can improve at the position without selling the farm, make the trade. If there’s no viable replacement, keep em |

Agreed to a point.
They should definitely try to unload 42 though. |

They're not trading Rask, so you can give up on that... Much like I stopped beating up on Chara.
I like Krejci, I think he's underrated on this team, and I think he's always had the misfortune of a carousel of linemates. If he does stick around this season, I'd like to see them put Pastrnak on his line to give him a high end scoring threat. No more putting the the new guys on his line and expecting Krejci to carry them all season.
That being said, if they can find a deal that's giving them a good return, now might be the time to move him before they miss their shot. |

We're on the same page, except for Rask and Chara. |

I dont think they need to move Pasta. Debrusk will be even better next year and hopefully one of the kids can fit in with them. |

He played well last season so that would've been counter productive. I'd like to see them move on from Krejci but like Rask there is no replacement. Not if your goal is to advance further than round 2 in playoffs this upcoming season. |

I don't think there's a need to stack EVERYONE on the top line though. Bergy and Marchand will most likely do enough to carry whoever is with them. I don't disagree about DeBrusk though... just thinking they should space things out a little more. I think the playoffs made it obvious they need a couple high end lines... one won't cut it if they go dry in the playoffs. |

I just feel like he's always handed the scraps and expected to carry the 2nd line. DeBrusk breaking out last year was huge for him. I think they expected Krejci to be their #1 center, and that's why he was paid as so. Bergy has just outplayed him for that #1 job, and I feel like the Bruins haven't done the best job at getting Krejci legit talent for his wings.
I think "can't even sniff 50 points" is a bit of an exaggeration. He only played 64 games last year, and put up 44 points. He had 54pts last season, and 63 the season before that.
I mean how do you think Krejci would perform if he had Marchand and Pastrnak on his wings all season long? |

Yeah, he looked much better last season, but I think McAvoy deserves a lot of the credit for that. He looked decent the season before when he was paired with Carlo, and he looked like a total pylon the season before when it was K Miller, or whoever else he was paired with. I think his partners make a huge difference. |

Look at this the other way.
Chara is a wonderful teacher and D partner for guys who will potentially take over for him.
He's old and slower than he was in his prime, but he's still delivering the mail 20+ hard minutes per game.
He can probably go till he's 50 on the 3rd pairing and all pk situations. |

This is my nightmare
I don't disagree that he's a great teacher... I just wonder what this team could do if they had a more modern defense, and a better transitional player taking those minutes. I understand he's still contributing, I just can't help but feel he's also holding them back in a sense. That being said, I highlt doubt there's a single guy in the Bs locker room that feels that way... it's just my perspective as a fan. |

Yeah i know they can. Not a bad option to slot in Heinen with Patrice and Marchand. Then go Debrusk, Krejci, Pasta.
Or you could put Donato on the top line and see how that goes. |

Yeah OK i stretched it with the 50 points thing, but to think he's underrated is ridiculous. He hasn't done much since Horton was here, especially for what he gets paid. I think his production is replaceable, and the cap space is needed. There was always the argument that "he's better in the playoff so don't worry about his regular season points" which is fine when they make legitimate cup runs, but been a while since that. |

They could try Bjork again on that top line too - he just got lost in the shuffle after getting injured.
They really have a lot of options, which is nice. I do think Krug is going to be traded and am skeptical about how that will work out. I'd like to see them trade him and some pieces for Hanifin, but other than that, that move makes me nervous. |

Oh without a doubt. With Miller, I think Chara was both struggling physically and overcompensating as Miller also had a bad season that year also. Chara still played about as well as guy his age could've( he's not Chelios) last season. Even without McAvoy. Certainly not advocating keeping him long term. I imagine he has 1-2 years max left him. If Chara wants to play past that, well Detroit always liked really old guys... |

Another reason I'm for Kovalchuk for 2 years. Losing Krug will really hurt the power play. Keeps the pressure off McAvoy while he continues to grow into the role. |

I wouldn't be opposed to it. I think they'll try and compensate for losing him with Grzelyck and McAvoy and hope someone like Kovy can chip in too. That way they can either get size on the left side of move into the first round. As I've said, I'd really only want to trade him if it was a piece of a package for Hanifin. I don't that moving out a 60pt defensman for a first round pick is a wise move assuming it's a later pick like I think it would be. |

It's a tough decision on Krug. But having both Krug and Gryz out there is not sustainable. They're too small. Has to be one or the other. Would love it the Bruins could get Noah Hanafin. I'd imagine it would be Krug + |
