They need to upgrade Ryan, Smith, and Ceci's spots.

yeah that 10 pick for Ceci wouldn't happen. Benning is from the same draft, is right handed and had more points than Ceci. Oilers are looking for a 40+ point defenseman.

I'm not sure if it matters at this point, the amount that the team was purchased for and the amount a sale would be, Melynk would make Millions

Forbes reports that Melnyk paid $92 Million for the team and the team value is $420 Million as of November 2017. The team has showed a profit every year. Meaning on top of the profit he's made over the years and especially in the playoffs. He would make $328 Million just on a sale alone if it was at that value and the $92 Million and debt was paid off before hand.

The rich get richer by not leaving any money on the table. If he thought by spending another 20 million . It would net him full+ value . He would do it. The way i see him sellibg is not before a shovel is in the ground at Lebreton. Even that wouldnt make sense . If all he is thinking $.. we have to remember the guy is not poor quite the opposite.

1. Draft Zadina if MTL F's up... - clear choice
2. If Zadina isn't there, trade the #4 to Detroit for the #6 + OTT 2nd 2018 and at #6 take Hughes/Boqvist or Bouchard - not sure why detroit would do this given that there is very little difference between picks 4 - 8. only way i could see detroit wanting to trade up is if zadina was still there, and then it's moot cuz sens would take him
3. At 22 take Merkley - no idea, never heard of him
4. If you can snake the #10 from EDM for Ceci + OTT 2nd 2018 then take whomever has fallen from the 4-9 prospects, maybe Kotkiemi or Whalstrom - see my previous point. ceci is probably worth at most a 3rd or 4th rd pick
5. Trade Pageau to MTL for CHI 2nd 2018 - would rather keep pageau than have a mid 2nd
6. Buy out Burrows - easy choice
7. Keep Karlsson and Hoffman... - easy choice
8. Sign De Haan - depends on the money, need to re-sign karlsson, stone, and duchesne.....if having De Haan in ANY way hinders re-signing even one of those 3 then it's not worth it.

In a perfect world, Sens would keep everybody i.e. Hoffman and Karlsson in the fold. Unfortunatly, one of Hoffman or Karlsson will be traded in the coming weeks to accomodate the team and the owner. They cant keep both Hoffman and Karlsson because RFAs like Stone, Ceci and Duchene (UFA in 2019) will be looking for lucrative contracts and Melnyk wont be in a position to pay everybody at the market prices.

For the ones who think that the owner will sell the team before July 1st, I dont believe it will happen soon. Melnyk is too proud and too stubborn for selling the team, he will never accept to be the one who hasnt succeeded in Ottawa with the Sens. Selling a NHL team is also a process taking weeks to be done because a lot of things need to be checked and approuved before by both parties (buyer and seller) and the NHL.

The least damaging scenario for you guys is to find the maximum of money available to give the best contract to Karlsson (8 x 11 M$). To do that, Dorion should buy out the 3 remaining years of Gaborik's contract and trade Hoffman for a package of a 1st round pick (2019), a young NHLer and a good prospect. With the RFAs, Dorion should give a 2 x 3 M$ contract to Ceci and a 6 x 6,5 M$ contract to Stone. What do you think about that Sens fans? Am I wrong?

Why exactly does anyone think Karlsson will resign again?
- chance to win? Nope
- will be surrounded by stars? Nope
- biggest payday? Nope
- loves the system the team plays? Nope
- loyalty to the owner? Nope
- coach? Nope

That leaves the elusive 8th year and that he married a hot chick from Lisgar, lives in the Glebe and supposedly likes the city. Last I heard there were hot chicks and nice neighborhoods in other places too!

Post after post all these silly lineups for next year include him. He's gone and this abomination of a franchise needs to be blown up in the traditional hockey sense, plus arena owner and all that...

The absolute quietest part of the NHL year and what are the Sens up to? Allegedly missing payroll, AGM arrested at a minimum for being a creep, recalls on team merchandise for choking babies.

When I think of the Sens leadership in hockey ops, Kramer and his intern at Kramerica Industries comes to mind...

This franchise will be a train wreck until there is new ownership.

Under resourced. Meddling owner. Financially-based decision making, not hockey-based.

Good luck Sens fans.

Im sorry, you said DORION has is hands full? Don't we know by now that Melnyk is the real GM and that Dorion is the puppet.

Sorry story in all this is that, although this is the most important summer of our franchise, the management team taking care of all this is the same that created that poop show. We're in trouble

There will be a sell soon if:

Karlsson and Stone are signed
Ryan and Gaborik bought out
Hoffman Traded at the Draft to Edmonton for 1st pick and +

no not him, thats the whole reason he lost his bet, Sens arent interested in putting the best product on the ice.

They would play worse vet players under contract instead of putting NHL money in the AHL to play their own young players.

Thats was the premise of the Chabot bet, Sens had 7 Dman on 1 way NHL contracts, no way chabot was going to play that season bc they would never put NHL salary in the AHL, and thats what happens, Chabot goes down even though he was better than most guys on the roster
