It’s still technically possible for Ottawa to keep their pick next year by giving up this one, no? |

Yes but that'd be pretty dumb. Even finishing 2nd last this season only got them the 4th pick, so you'd have to be damn sure that you're gonna finish 30th or 31st if you want the pick next year |

And even then... who says the number 1 pick next year (still low chance) will be better than probably Zadina? If Zadina is gone I hope we pick a Dman at 4.
It will be interesting for sure Trevor. I still feel we don't have to go full retard yet with trades if we're able to keep Karlsson and Stone on board. The core is pretty good, but I'm only a bit worried about the blue line and goalie depth in the system.
If we can keep this roster together we should be able to be a bubble team:
Hoffman - Duchene - Stone
Zadina - Pageau - Ryan
Dzingel - Smith - White
Paajarvi - Chlapik - Gaborik
Pyatt
Wolanin/FA - Karlsson
Chabot - Ceci
Borowiecki - Wideman
Harpur
Anderson Condon

I'm telling you right now the no. 1 next year will be better than Zadina. lol
Like you say, though, not really a great chance we 'win' the lottery, nor is it particularly likely that we finish lower in the standings than we did this year.

it is pretty standard procedure for a business to scale down expenses prior to a new owner taking over. It gives maximum flexibility to the new group and, at the same time, has the departing ownership take on all the bad news.
Right now the Sens do not have a front office driving ticket sales, advertising or other sources of revenue. Don’t know if sale of team will be announced today, next week or next month. But the sale is coming.
i believe the priority of the new ownership group will be to lock in Karlsson to a long term deal. Personally, I am not opposed to the idea of dealing Karlsson if a huge return is offered. |

My strategy...
1. Draft Zadina if MTL F's up...
2. If Zadina isn't there, trade the #4 to Detroit for the #6 + OTT 2nd 2018 and at #6 take Hughes/Boqvist or Bouchard
3. At 22 take Merkley
4. If you can snake the #10 from EDM for Ceci + OTT 2nd 2018 then take whomever has fallen from the 4-9 prospects, maybe Kotkiemi or Whalstrom
5. Trade Pageau to MTL for CHI 2nd 2018
6. Buy out Burrows
7. Keep Karlsson and Hoffman...
8. Sign De Haan
Seems doable |

If this is the case. I 100% agree with you but I would go a little different with the lines.
Hoffman - Duchene - Ryan
Zadina - White - Stone
Dzingel - Pageau - Smith
Paajarvi - Chlapik - Gaborik
Pyatt
Harpur/FA - Karlsson
Chabot - Ceci
Borowiecki - Wideman
Anderson Condon
I'd also be looking into a Gaborik Buyout if he doesn't start out strong, I would also consider a trade fro a players like a ROR. and I'd be working the rookies like Brown, Formenton etc |

What would you guys want for Karlsson from us? Just curious, although I'm not sure if we would have enough cap space to resign him if Yzerman could obtain him in a trade. |

Standard business procedure is to sell while your business is surging. To maximize profits. But a NHL team is a product unlike any other business but still .... it would cost an owner a loss of millions in the sale . if the team is not set up and running properly
Eugen will be hanging on to this for the forseeable future i predict. . |

I'm not sure if it matters at this point, the amount that the team was purchased for and the amount a sale would be, Melynk would make Millions
Forbes reports that Melnyk paid $92 Million for the team and the team value is $420 Million as of November 2017. The team has showed a profit every year. Meaning on top of the profit he's made over the years and especially in the playoffs. He would make $328 Million just on a sale alone if it was at that value and the $92 Million and debt was paid off before hand.

If you acquire the 10th pick..
Wouldn't it be worthwhile to see if Colorado takes that pick and possibly protect their 1st next year ? |
|
|
|
its quite easy, if karlsson is traded, mr cheapo is not selling as the teams value will drop, if he is resigned, good chance a sale is coming soon. Also i do not think Stone stays in ottawa if mr cheapo is still owner, same with karlsson and duchene |

Hmm, if that was the case, they probably wouldn't do it. I'm pretty sure Point is an untouchable now, and most likely Sergachev as well. Honestly there probably isn't a trade to be had, with Kucherov, Vasi, and Points contracts coming up soon. |

1. Draft Zadina if MTL F's up... - clear choice
2. If Zadina isn't there, trade the #4 to Detroit for the #6 + OTT 2nd 2018 and at #6 take Hughes/Boqvist or Bouchard - not sure why detroit would do this given that there is very little difference between picks 4 - 8. only way i could see detroit wanting to trade up is if zadina was still there, and then it's moot cuz sens would take him
3. At 22 take Merkley - no idea, never heard of him
4. If you can snake the #10 from EDM for Ceci + OTT 2nd 2018 then take whomever has fallen from the 4-9 prospects, maybe Kotkiemi or Whalstrom - see my previous point. ceci is probably worth at most a 3rd or 4th rd pick
5. Trade Pageau to MTL for CHI 2nd 2018 - would rather keep pageau than have a mid 2nd
6. Buy out Burrows - easy choice
7. Keep Karlsson and Hoffman... - easy choice
8. Sign De Haan - depends on the money, need to re-sign karlsson, stone, and duchesne.....if having De Haan in ANY way hinders re-signing even one of those 3 then it's not worth it.
