I mean this is the Islanders and you have to think that the A+ candidates are going to have other options and The Islanders aren't the premiere destination in the NHL. I mean if your a back up goalie with aspirations of being a GM their first on the list but not for top candidates so L and M want a replacement in place before they show their cards.

I wouldn't totally rule out the "A+" guys from signing on here, because there's only 31 jobs available and if your goal is to be a GM then you can't be too picky over which team it's for. Kinda like goalies, only 31 starting jobs available. But yeah, the guys you mentioned would all be very good candidates and I'd be thrilled to have any of them come here.

The only thing I can think (hope) is that Ledecky and Malkin are waiting for the teams those guys work for to be eliminated so they can start interviewing and are keeping Snow for the time being because someone has to run the show. Can't go a few months without anyone leading the way for the draft, free agency, etc...

Im not saying it's impossible. Just that Dean Lombardi politely said no thank you so. If your the Rangers your pretty much guaranteed to get your guy, The Islanders not so much. So before you show your cards you better have your ducks in a row.

Cannot see any A+ players giving the Isles the time of day as long as Garth is GM. Even if the Isles get a new GM, it might take until Belmont until the Isles can attract A+ FA's.

This is very true Dan. Usually very few impact players get to FA. I thin k it's better just to dabble in FA on smaller type signings and use trades instead.
