As much as I would love to have him, negotiating with Overhardt for his contract would likely prove to be a nightmare and if Snow trades a lotto pick for an RFA that then refuses to sign...hooooo boy. The pitchforks and torches are coming out.
- eichiefs9

Snow only deals with people that don't challenge him. Hence all the no experience coaches he's hired.

While I do not think Snow is a good GM, I do think it was a good call to not trade one of their 1st round picks this year. I dont think any move was going to get them into the playoffs.

I think it would actually be in the Islanders best interest to let JT walk, and try and rebuild with some of the young core around Barzal. Its going to take too long to build a contender when you have that many pieces missing. Unless there are some excellent D, and goaltending prospects in the system?

Now they're going to start evaluating. Where the hell has this green toothed imbecile been for the last 4 miserable months? Under a rock?
- PeteM

Maybe they waited for the season to end to get JT's input on a new GM so sad this is a possibility

Nobody, here anyway, really cared that he didn't do anything at the deadline. What galled everyone was that he sat on those two picks and did absolutely nothing with them in the offseason when he could have looked for some outside help for the blueline. Instead, he trotted out a historically and comically bad defense that got exposed all season long.

I just think he's chicken poop and didn't want to answer any questions. So he hightailed it out of there.
- Isleshockeyman

Still think he wants them gone or maybe he needs the thumbs up from Malkin and was pissed he was with those two idiots. He didnt look or sound happy so theres still a chance

Unlike the Rangers and Devils, I don't hate your team. In fact, I feel for you guys. Your owner seems to be a total douchebag that only cares about the bottom line and you are stuck with a crappy GM and a coach who is in over his head. I hope JT stays, but I wouldn't bet on it or blame him for leaving.

I miss the days when both our clubs were good and it was great rivalry. Even though I hated you mofos in the late 70s/early 80s, I always respected that team and I always had a soft spot for Kenny Morrow for being on the 1980 Olympic team.

- BiggE

These owners have been dumb so far, but they have not been cheap. We have to hope they fire Garth and Doug already regardless of whether JT likes them or not. Reports are JT was not happy Garth did not make improvements at the deadline.

I know you're kidding but if you look at Ledeckys body language, (not looking to his left much, if at all) he doesn't seem too happy with these two. Plus, why did he leave the podium? It's almost like he is saying, "You two are truly responsible for this mess, YOU answer their questions."

You can arrange an extension prior to trade. But yeah Overhardt is a kunt

Why the hell would JT want Snow gone? There's no accountability, no responsibility and he controls the team. It's the country club

Clearly a fair assessment. It could turn out well for the Islanders this off season however. The Islanders were in mediocrity territory. Maybe this could help dig them out a bit. Again, Snow isnt good, but he could dumb luck into some good players here.

Wish we would have thought of that. Everything hinges on Snow getting blasted into a mine shaft. If he stays (which I'm 95% certain he will), nothing will change. His delusion is that this team can compete for a cup. Therefore, why change anything.

They may not have been cheap, but look at who they continue to let utilize that money. Cheap is one thing, gross financial mismanagement by the GM is another. You can have a brand new Ferrari but if you have an 85 year old driving it, you're not getting the best utilization from it.

Still some small chance. Could Ledecky be looking at someone like Fitzgerald and he did not want to let Lou's kid take over just to replace him later?

It could, but Isles fans are tired of having good draft picks and good prospects. As much as I'd be thrilled to win the 2nd/3rd pick lotteries...I'd only really be over the moon if they landed Dahlin, which is a big-time long shot at a combined 6% odds.

I'll be happy getting Veleno at 10th, assuming nobody took him earlier. He's the exact kind of player that the Isles need, whether Tavares walks or not.

Yeah but the problem with trading those things is that A) you're not getting a player that's going to change anything for two second's and B) Nelson, despite the fact that I loathe him, was the only functional player on the third line once Ho Sang was banished to BPT. I still can't believe they traded a 3rd round pick for Davison...that guy (frank)ing blows. And I'm nearly positive that Snow will re-sign him just so he doesn't look like a moron for trading a 3rd round pick for a bad defenseman that he let walk in a throwaway year.

Maybe? Who the (frank) knows? In reality Ledecky is most likely keeping the clown show going with weight and snow while we're all coming up with these theories due to being desperate. All looking for some glimmer of hope when in reality it's what we all feared

Sadly, we'll get a Reinhart-type and MDC-type players with those picks, Regardless of what position they draft from.

I did not like giving up a 3rd for Davidson. Could they have traded Nelson earlier for a better fit for the 3rd line? I know you are not getting a star for Nelson. I just think there were moves Garth could have made when de Haan and Boychuk got hurt to try to turn things around and he just let the season slip away again.
