I was at the game last night & made a point to watch the Gudas/Manning duo. It was god awful. Manning looks lost, head constantly on a swivel. Gudas let guys skate wide on him, control the puck & never won a one on one battle for puck. Gudas tried 2 of those open ice lower the hip check which I feel is a dirty/cheap move. Hagg has to replace one of theses bozos. |

Konecny has been the most explosive player on the team. With him, I can live with the mistakes. I fully understand why Haks limits his ice time after mistakes, but I don’t like it. As a fan I want to see him play more minutes. The coach has to win now.
I really hope that he can develop the D side of his game . With his speed he would be killer playing on the PK. Their short handed goals would double. That is hopefully in the future.
Also developing his two way game is the key to him getting the ice time.
I think Patrick is already there with reliable 2 way play and I hope if/when they make the playoffs Haks leans on Patrick to play the key minutes over Filp. NP wasn’t ready for it to start the year, but I believe he is now. |

He must have lost the ability to even be a third pairing dman after being used on the second pairing for 70 games. - Feanor
I hope Hak sees this and gets Hägg back in, starting Saturday. No excuse not to if the guy isn’t injured.

Manning hasn't been bad. He's been reasonable 6/7 defender. He is an easy scapegoat. I think Gudas has been the most disappointing of the defenders. I would replace him with Hagg as I think Hagg can bring about the same in physicality but has a more skill with the puck.

Read deserves some props, since coming up he has been solid, can't score to save his life but an improvement over Leir and some of the other fringe players. Read did a nice job with Coots on the PK and at the end last night in the neutral zone. - wcorvette
absolutely. I thought he was cooked...done. But he is providing a legitimate 4th line contribution |

They are atrocious...and Hagg should get in over one of them. I love when Gudas ices the puck when hes clearly not even being pressured |

I agree with you, I believe Gudas gets lots of leeway because he is a RH dman. He s Provy partner on PK 1 and end of game also. This has remained consistent throughout the year. I wonder if they try to sign a RH dman in the off-season to move on from Gudas and not put pressure on Myers to be ready for the pros out of training camp.

He is and I am happy but feel sorry for him that he can't buy a goal, he has had some serious chances to score too! |

I don't know.
I wonder about a guy like Reece Wilcox in Lehigh. i have watched some games and he is a pretty solid defender. not going to put up points but a solid stay at home type. He isn't a mean nasty guy like Morin but is 6'3 and skates pretty well. Also a right hand shot |

I just wonder with Hexys conservative approach to developing his prospects, if bringing up a RH Dman to replace Gudas is the answer next season with his responsibilities. Also, my concern keeping Gudas and chalking it up to a bad season is he was never fast, appears slower and has had knee issues. I dont consider him in the same light as Pronger whose hockey intelligence makes up for his physical decline. I think he addresses the 3rd pairing in the offseason, curious to see how. |
