By time Florida plays Boston on Sunday, they'll be in their 5th game in seven days. More important, Flyers need to take care of their own business on Saturday and whenever else happens won't matter from a Florida-Sabres and Florida-Bruins standpoint.

Even if Giroux doesn't get to 100 points, I could not be prouder of how he's come back this year.

I'm trying to remember a Philadelphia athlete everyone left for dead and came back to an elite level the way G has.

Maybe Joel Embiid? Many wrote him off and continue to write him off, but when he's on the court, he's dominant.

nah embiid was only written off cause injuries and is too young. g was one of the best players in the league for 4, 5 years and then one down season and everyone wanted his head. it was sad to watch honestly

So happy for this Sedin goal in their last Vancouver game:

I'm a huge fan of the Sedins and anyone that doesn't think they don't both belong in the HHoF can kiss the fattest part of my ass.

That is a lot of awards for a stone hands defending third line center named Sean Couturier. What a season he has had. Would be interesting to hear why from a variety of people.

People forget that Sean Couturier was in conversations to be the 1st overall pick in his draft year.

He scored 96 points in the year before his draft year, which is a nice number in the Q at that age (for reference, not quite what G did, but still pretty good).

Thing is, Couturier contracted mono in the following off season, and, even though he matched his 96 point total in 10 fewer games the next season, his draft status was hurt.

So, it's not like Couturier had no pedigree as a guy that could hang offensive numbers. He was just never allowed to be that guy when he got to the NHL until this year.

Every post made so far is amazing, totally right on the money. Especially like the Sedin comments by John, the Sedins are one of a kind (I mean two). Giroux and his rebound from two disappointing seasons is sensational and Couturier running with the opportunity to produce makes me smile from head to toe. I knew he had the talent but I honestly thought because of his solid defence and penalty kill prowess that he could get left without scoring opportunities, thank you Hak for the brilliant move, 28 and 14 were a big story this year and my fav flyer the Gost has been Karlsson like all year and big 93, heart and soul. Love these guys and hope we go deep.

For the two seasons prior to this one, Sean Couturier had a rough time staying healthy. You're right to a degree. He wasn't given all the offensive opportunities he needed to blossom but the Flyers had other players who seemed more suited for an offensive role. Up until this season, Coots has been on the second line for a number of seasons.

When it comes to rewarding a defenseman based on points or how rounded they are as a defenseman, I view things very different.

In 2010 Chris Pronger had his third best season with the Flyers in his career but was passed up in a nomination for Mike Green's offense. In this case Ghost has one of the best all time point totals as a defenseman but Provorov does the heavy lifting for the entire team with ice time, plus/minus, goals and blocked shots. Nicholas Lidstrom won the Conn Smyth repeatedly by being a Provorov, not a Shyne Gostisbehere. So while I'm happy for Shyne, I'm always disappointed when an Erik Karlsson wins the Conn Smyth over a Shea Weber simply because his point totals were outstanding.

Duncan Keith, Drew Doughty, Victor Hedman, Shea Weber, Zdeno Chara, Ryan Suter, Ivan Provorov. These are my guys.

It was a down season and a couple years of trending downwards before that if memory serves correctly. That makes this all the more impressive.

give credit to Hak, good or bad times he has kept Coots with G, that has given Coots full opportunity to put up points, it paid off. Years past the Flyers didnt have as much depth for Hak to do it.

I think you have to ice Elliott. Hopefully he gets some more practice in today and gets the rust off.

They absolutely need him for the playoffs, if they make it. So they need him to be ready.

As bad as Elliott was you have to start him and hope it was serious rust/jitters.

Agree.

I also think he could be super motivated to play a great game after seeing his team bail him out against Carolina.

I was ok starting Elliott last night, I thought it was the right decision. I can see allowing a softie due to rust, but he gave up 3 goals last night that are routine saves. You have to go with a goaltender who can make a routine save. I'd go with Mrazek or Lyon and hope they bring their A game. Mrazek was great in a pretty big game against the Bruins. Amazing game 82 and they are the only team in the league who doesn't know who the goaltender is during the playoffs.
