Unless there is an injury, are we seeing Hagg again this season?
- flyer_nutter

He must have lost the ability to even be a third pairing dman after being used on the second pairing for 70 games.

As bad as Lehtera has been, I still think, sadly, that he's better than Filppula. However, right now, the top 4 forwards on the PK should be: Couturier, Giroux, Raffl, and Laughton. Furthermore, I would use Patrick (who killed penalties regularly in Junior) before next, as my 6th option, going to Lehtera. I don't want to see Simmonds or Filppula killing penalties at all.
- BiggE

I don't think Lehtera is better than Filppula, but the problem is that Filppula isn't nearly as good as the coach acts like he is. He has tanked the production of several of the Flyers good forwards

i think its a wash. raffl scored sure but whos to say TK wouldn't. also raffl always complements G well. i think they won because they came out with a fire under their asses. if elliott hadnt been so rusty its easily a 4-1 game
- bulet13

All of that is true but can't deny that Konecny added a spark to that third line that hasn't been there previously and Raffl played well on the fore check. If the Flyers can keep doing that and become a deeper offensive team because of it then that is an improvement.

An easy way to become a deeper offensive team and improve the PK would be to replace Lehtera with Weal, and give Lehtera's SH TOI to Laughton who has had much better results this season.

Trade Neuvirth - too injury prone
Ride out Elliot and re-sign Mrazek to a 2-3 year deal.

I did get a good laugh out of JJ saying (during the CAR timeout at the end) something along the lines of "Giroux will certainly be out there for this key moment" then Coots, Filppula, and Read skate out for the faceoff.
- YuenglingJagr

I heard that. Giroux was 5th among forwards in ice time. How is this possible? I can see in a lopsided game, or a heavy PK game... But how can this be rationalized?

Read deserves some props, since coming up he has been solid, can't score to save his life but an improvement over Leir and some of the other fringe players. Read did a nice job with Coots on the PK and at the end last night in the neutral zone.

Unless Robert Haag is hurt, there is no reason he shouldn't be playing over either Manning or Gudas. This is the one lineup decision that has baffled me from the very start. If he is hurt then fine. But if he isn't he has to get in there.

Overall it seems Hakstol has pushed the right buttons with the lineups. I like what Konecny brought to the third line. It would be nice if he got Simmonds going and they seem to be on the right path. If that gives the Flyers three effective lines then even more the better.

They just have zero interest in sitting down Gudas for whatever reason. Credit to Sanheim for grabbing his spot. Hopefully he 'll eventually get more responsibility. If they make the playoffs great, the roster is flawed. With the waiver exemptions, I wonder what Hexy does with the blueline.

I seriously doubt there will be a trade market for Neuvirth but you never know. I would not re-sign Mrazek.

I agree, if there is no physical issue, Haag should be playing.

What I proved is how ridiculous your statement is with facts. The fact that you had to turn around and reply in this manner as well as moving on to grammar, just reinforces how strongly I refuted your false narrative.
- MJL

You didn't offer a single fact in your original rebuttal.

Your poor grammar is indicative of a lack of critical background skills. This leads to anything you say being taken at a discount.

You really just showed how much of a waste of time it is to try and have a hockey related discussion with you. Whatever helps you sleep at night though.

Have a good weekend.

yeah konecny did add a spark especially in the first period but become less notoceable after that. partly because simmonds kept making bad playd and partly because he wasnt seeing the ice that much as consequence of being on the third line. if he is on the third line, fine. but dont limit his ice time

Seriously? The fact that a 19/20 year old has been played the highest amount of minutes by the coach in the past two seasons is not a fact?

There is only one person here who is not having a hockey related discussion and that is you.

By nature if he is on the 3rd line versus the first line, he will see less ice time. They have the option of moving him back up in game situations such as trailing in the game.

And hopefully the Flyers are done with Mrazek as well. You've got Hart in the pipeline, and Elliott for another year. I would think: start the season with Elliott and whoever*.

Unless Hart is just so spectacularly, mind-bogglingly awesome in camp and pre-season that he just wins the job outright.

*In this case, whoever is anyone the Flyers can get cheaply for a year, and I suppose Lyon and/or Stolarz could be in the mix.

I don't really have a cause.

Well, I guess I was originally defending Lavi, but he's kind of doing that himself.
