actually it was a good game and we played pretty well
one disallowed goal and one post in OT stopped us from 2 pts - bulet13
Sounds like typical Flyers this season. Ugh. |

I have to admit, Brian Elliott has been really good for us. I can't imagine where we'd be right now if this team was subjected to Mason's constant up and down play again this year. |

Um, I don't know....missing the playoffs? All kidding aside, Elliott has been solid. It's a shame he has to be saddled with some of these losses. A little more skill up front would go a long way. There's better days ahead for us...just not this year

It's almost like Ghost CAN be a top pair d-man alongside Provorov and wreck poop and help Provy out too, who looked way more confident and active.
Maybe someone can dredge up a year old quote saying the same thing to leave me in shambles. - Mononoke
You did that yourself with the Provorov looked way more confident and active comment. That statement should be on a bill board for confirmation bias. |

Really liked the Ghost/Provorov pair last night, the Hagg/AMac not so much. Perhaps they should try putting Sanheim with AMac and Hagg with Gudas. Sanheim can do most of the puck handling on a pair with AMac and Hagg can move to his natural side while playing with Gudas.
I liked the changes in the forward lines too, now they just need to get Lindblom up so that we can get Lehtera off the ice.
Overall I thought they played pretty well, just ran into a very good goalie who was on top of his game. Oh well, perhaps they should have tried to convince Bob that it was a playoff game.

I like the Gostisbehere-Provorov pairing but not sure about it long term. I don't see as a pairing that should be used in all game situations. I completely don't like the MacDonald-Hagg pairing. Too similar of players and don't compliment each other well.
I think the Flyers were more aggressive and up on their skates last night than the Buffalo game but they were too much of a one line team last night. Weal was a healthy scratch so if he could get his act together, he could get Lehtera out of the lineup. |

I think the Provy/Ghost pair is fine long term, obviously you break them up for PK and when protecting a lead in the last couple minutes of the game, but other than that, I really like it. Re Weal: I'd rather have a struggling Weal in the lineup over Lehtera. Lehtera's skating is just awful and he does little, if anything, productive while on the ice. I knew he was on the decline, but to have all 0 goals and 2 assists after 20 games while also being -5 is just pathetic. While he and Weal both have so-so possession stats, at least Weal can skate and he has 3 goals and 9 points in 30 games while only being -3.
At this point, Lindblom, Read, and when he's healthy, Vecchione should be playing before Lehtera.

I liked Konecny up on first line.....thought he played well. The ghost /‘provy pairing really could be dynamic....the nice thing is they are both still young and should be in the Flyer plans for years to come. I thought they complemented each other nicely. Hopefully Lindblom is close, god knows they could use more skill....there was a Weise sighting on the second pp unit last night. That shouldn’t happen....ever....like ever.

The Provy/Ghost pair has potential to be a lot like the Howe/McCrimmon pair was in the mid 80's. While I don't think that Ghost will ever be as complete a player as Mark Howe was, I do think that Provorov can be a more dynamic and better all around player than McCrimmon was to balance it out.
I'd replace Ghost on the PK, but other than that, I'd roll with this pair for a while and let them build some chemistry together.
Lindblom has been playing very well of late, if it keeps up, I think he's up soon. At that point, I'm hoping to see:
G-Coots-TK
Raffl-Patrick-Voracek
Lindblom-Filppula-Simmonds
Leier-Laughton-Weise or Weal
And, I'd still look to see if Weal can be dealt for a bigger, grittier player that can penalties and be a better fit on the 4th line.

Both have subpar puck skills. I think they'd be much better off putting Sanheim with AMac and letting Hagg play his natural side paired with Gudas.
