Carey Price

Career 2.42 GAA, .920 Sv%
This Season 3.00 GAA, .905 Sv%

Scott Darling

Career 2.43 GAA, .918 Sv%
This Season 2.64 GAA, .903 Sv%

Price is older and costs over twice as much. $5.9 million is a lot of money for a .2% upgrade.

- BINGO!

He got those stats as a back up.

Disclaimer : Would never want this or expected to ever happen but in this hypothetical transaction I would put LA receives - Price and Galchenyuk(50% salary retained) Montreal receives - Quick and Carter

*Sigh* I know.

I'm not suggesting Darling has the pedigree that Price has. I'm just saying that the potential of Darling being even a .915 level goaltender at $4 million makes him way more attractive than Price's $10 million price tag.

I can't justify the expense that the upgrade would be without exploring cheaper options first. It's like buying an old Lamborghini to drive 20 minutes to work every day.

coming from the guy that think lindgren can replace price
- Tumbleweed

I did not say that he can replace Price one for one.

But with the improved D in front of him as a result of the pieces coming back, Lindgren can surely come near the numbers needed to win. And otherwise try McNiven.

But if some f*ckbucket is offering me Draisaitl and some more free-shopping in their lockerroom, then we'll go with Lindgren for a while.

Price won't be dealt but I am bored if he was how about something like:

Forget picks because I have no clue but.....

RNH, Klefbom, Puljujarvi, Talbot for Price and Pacioretty.

Or

Price and Weber to Toronto for Nylander, Gauthier, Timothy Liljegren, Anderson

Or

Price to Winnipeg for Trouba, Conor and Mason

Or

Price to Philly for Elliott, Sanheim, Konecky

Come on..... Chiarelli is the new and improved Mike Milbury.

If you plant the idea that this is a good deal for him long enough, he'll phone you up and even throw McJesus in the deal.

The difference between them is .002 sv% this season. I'll take the cheaper, younger, bigger guy.

RNH has been solid this year, so I definitely wouldn't flip him for Patches who seems lost so far this year.
Klefbom has been struggling so far, but not overly surprising.
Jesse is finding some chemistry on the top line with Lucic and Connor, plus he's still only 19.
Talbot struggled early, but has been more Talbot-esque recently

No way would I trade those for Carey Price who'll spend more time on the IR, and Pacioretty who'll ask for stupid money after next season (I think he's UFA in 2019?)

Oh sure it is. Price is generational. Tavares is fantastic but in a group of excellent players. Price stands alone as the league's top Goalie.
- Beatle_john

i think price is great, but he's hardly generational......he's not even the clear cut best goalie in the league right now, and aside from his one absolutely incredible season, he's had a few good years and also a few bad years......generational is not a term that should apply to him........i think you could put him in a group of 5 or 6 guys, all his "generation" and there isn't a clear cut best goalie out of the group

quick, bobrovsky, price, holtby, lundqvist......i'd say they're all pretty close

I trade Fredrick Anderson from the Leafs to Montreal for Carey Price.

Montreal gets a goalie that looks like he could be a stud. Anderson has provwn himself in the NHL. He has a cheaper contract for a team that could really use a couple cheaper, less term contracts.

Toronto gets the best goalie in the world.

Don’t want him.......way over”Price”ed.......too many years left, and best years behind him. His contract cripples a team and his performance for the next 8 years won’t support the money paid. (Never mind his injuries)

Absolutely. This "best goalie in the world" crap is ridiculous.
