I just hope to God he doesn't trade their 1st round pick for someone who maybe been gone in a year or two. Gotta start getting some young 18 years old in the system.

If you’re referring to Pacciorety, that’s worth the first, but I’d feel uneasy about the 1st + Sprong package it would definitely take.

Focused on success of AHL team and not the big club. 80 pts from a possible playoff position, or hit the cellar for a high pick.

Wicked tough loss to the brooooons.

- 51_Killer

Wicked, dood. lol

Yeah, the Pens are just not having a good season. I'll wait to be overly concerned until they make or don't make moves for that matter.

It’s starting to look like this roster is just plain stale. On the spectrum, I think I’ve always been on the end advocating for prospects to be brought along slowly as apposed to the “OMFG THEYRE LIGHTING UP THE AHL THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN BROUGHT UP YESTERDAY!!!” crowd, but it’s high time to give Sprong a look to get some fresh blood. Then I’d consider making a trade like the Neal-Hornqvist or Perron-Hagelin trade of exchanging like forwards. We have good wings, but I think swapping out guys and getting new blood in might be for the best. Not Kessel, though, before you chuckle(frank)s start with that bs again.

If you look at the guys who left after two long years of Stanley Cup grinding (Kunitz, Dailey, Bonino, Cullen) they're not looking great right now either. It has to be a complete mental grind to do that in back to back years. Wonder how much that has to do with this years start.

Ruth had the right idea when he said he was gonna overturn the roster but all he did was let our bottom 4 Cs walk without replacing them, get a waste of space enforcer, and get a Cole redundancy for the bottom pairing. Right idea poor execution.

Very poor offseason for JR and we are seeing the results right now.

Completely agree with all of this. He wasted assets in a first rounder and Sundqvuist to get it done too. Still don't hate Reeves the player, but what a horrible move.

This team is a borderline playoff team as currently constructed. Lost 9 of the last 13 games. Yikes!!! Rutherford did a poor job with the roster this off season. Can't win every year, but that Reaves deal is as much of a joke now as it was the day GMJT made it.

Yes he butchered the off-season. Still... There's no accounting for Sid's slow start and Letangs constant ridiculous mistakes. I think we could have won a couple more games if Letang were simply in the press box. He's been that bad.

I'm not giving up on the guy, but they MUST get him straightened out to have any kind of shot this year. You can't have 7.5mil player hurting your chances like he's doing.

Players I would move that would have value... Sheary, Cole, Hunwick, Maatta, Rust, Sheahan. I don't think Hags is tradeable without retention (which I'd do).

I do question if this could be a lost season no matter what JR does. They never look like a fresh team even after having two or three days off.

True. Letang has been atrocious this season. Sid looks ordinary. The team isn't flying like we've seen in the past.

Letang and Hunwick would be the first guys I'd look to trade. Perhaps Hagelin but I like his defensive game.

Ok another loss & more worrying another 4 GA??? What's with that Muzza?

If Cole sat due to bad play & not injury, then Tanger by the sounds of it must have a rest next game.

With Geno do the Pens win? Just a question.

Did I see that stat correctly, lost 9 of the last 13? That's crazy bad (so is our goal differential not that that means anything.

Tough seeing the team lose, but knowing they just went b2b is a comfort. Hopefully they turn it around soon.

Strange there's not more press about that loss record, & quite frankly a team that does that has no right to be in a playoff position (which may be the case after today ).

Something like Gardiner/Nylander for Letang/Roster player or Galchenyuk/Pacioretty for Letang/Hagelin. Something out of Las Vegas like Marchessault/Neal...I don't know. We just need to make the right move. We made too many mistakes this offseason.

"I don't always shoot.. but when I do it's into a defender."
Kris Letang

- Thorny87

he has to lead the league in his own blocked shot attempts. we see this year after year. dude doesn't understand the concept of a shooting lane. if he were coachable, video tape session and on-ice practice would go a long way.

I just can't blame any of our Dman at this point other than Letang......who has been atrocious. ATROCIOUS. If I were to trade a guy with value it would be Maatta. If he ever loses a step, he'll be Scuderi bad. I think Dumo will be a good Penguin for years to come. Especially with his size and reach. IMO he's being brought down by Letangs brutal play.

I agree with your assessment of the stale roster. It's a little stale and much slower. Bottom half of the team is slow and unskilled.

- madmike71

+1 Esp Dumo ceiling versus his current performance & partner and about Maatta turning into Scuderi Jr. Roster is in desperate need of youthful legs, even if its only for 10 game stretch.

I'm sure we're going to see something significant, but like you said this could have been a lost season regardless. This team is a gassed.

It might be worth to just hope for the best and not do anything big then just rest up, make some smart moves in the off-season and maybe grab a mid-first-rounder.

If I remember correctly the Kings qualified 7th or 8th won the cup. Hawks qualified by 3 points or something & won the cup.

As long as we are there, this team will succeed.

I think it's about time we call the oilers and steal RNH off of them. Let's say Dumo for RNH lol

The 'only' problem I see there with that, is Costanza only likes 1 for 1 trades so he may argue 'what's the' for Nuge & that's it!

I do wonder if that could be the best route. Don't make moves they'll regret down the road for a quick sugar high.

Yeah. I'm sure they're not in denial about the choices they made, so IMO it's wiser to not make those quick fixes for a mediocre run. My gut tells me though they'll attempt some kind of upgrade for 3C if they truly don't feel Jake should be there.

Personally, I think they should only make a real hockey deal if it presents itself. One that gets them a player that fits the identity they built before.

Super glad that you're not making decisions for the team.

In general I'm started to question Sully's decisions. Not his coaching ability, but he's made some very questionable decisions.
