Ah ok. Well I guess that will at least shut people up about this favoritism malarky.

We weren't gonna get anyone better than Sheahan who fit under our cap as it stood without giving up a roster player (aka freeing up cap space). If Rutherford wants to get a 3C he still can since we'll be trading one of Hornqvist, Hagelin, or Sheary most likely in a hockey trade. Cap won't be an issue.
- Victoro311

If we would have let that cap space sit till the deadline it would have been prorated to about 9 million. Now we only have 670 thousand. And it's not hard to find a better centre than a 2 goal scorer. I know Detroit has a bunch of crappy players like Abdelkader, Glendening Helm, etc but 2 goals is bad. This trade is taking Rowney or McKegg out of the lineup so they should have got an offensive guy.

A 5/6 defensive man would be more of a need in my opinion.

A Hunwick replacement is very urgent. Hopefully he goes the other way involved he trade and we forget he even happened.

He's definitely not been the controlled temper Crosby that we witnessed the last couple seasons.

so what is Wilsons game?
- wingz4life

He was scoring his ass off in the AHL, similar production to Sheary, but it never translated to the NHL.

He now plays a fast checking game but was the oddman out when they decided to blow a spot on Reeves.

Has the potential to be a bottom 6 scoring grinder with the change in scenery.

That Namestnikov-Stamkos-Kucherov line is filthy and disgusting.

I'm not a fan of Sheahan either, but this isn't a bad move. There doesn't seem to be a plethora of top-level 3C's available.

Sheahan is still an upgrade over what the Pens have. I understand your point about the cap space, but it's slightly irrelevant because if the Pens are going to to acquire someone on the level that we all want, they're going to have to give up someone of similar salary.

EDIT: We can't assume that just because COL and MTL are looking to move Duchene and Galch means the Pens have what they want.

Not that I think Murray would have allowed less, but I'm still curious as to why Niemi didn't start last night instead.

He was statistically the unluckiest player last year. 2% shooting percentage and a tilted PDO if I remember correctly despite good shot suppression. I had 0 interest in him but the team traded a scratch.

I wondered that too. Maybe it's a sacrificial lamb kind of thing. Doesn't want his starting tender playing behind a tired team. Especially against a team that can really score.

This is a buy low move that doesn't really excite me. But then again we don't have those back to back cups without GMJR picking up guys like Schulz, Hagelin, and Daley in similar trades so hopefully this works out the same.

So, does Niemi get pulled and we see Murray in the 2nd?

This 1st period result actually has me worried. The Pens have too much pride to not come out flying hard in the 2nd. Don't get me wrong, I am not female doging about a 3-0 lead, but this is gonna piss off the entire Pens bench. And a pissed off Crosby, Malkin, or Letang is scary.

can the team just pack up their gears and head to their next destination? do they HAVE to play the game? I mean they obviously already lost so why not just rest for the next game?

They should just stick with Niemi. Might as well give Murray the entire night off.

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.

Pens too undisciplined returning to pre cup play. The only difference Kunitz isn't here to fight someone. I'll be surprised if we score 1 goal to be honest.

Hahaha... To be fair to him though, the team in front of him have done him no favours in his starts... Warm garbage
