Why can't we have Kessel AND Sprong? Our cap situation is good and hockey is a multi-line sport. Having two Kessel-type players that you can deploy on different lines so that type of player is on the ice for over 50% of the game is only a good thing. |

True. However in the animal kingdom, Penguins don't feast on Panthers either.

Guentzel with Crosby, Phil with Malkin, and Sprong with that new third line C? |

They can. Both do like the same spot on the PP though and has Ryan alluded to 5 of Sprong's goals are there. Might get more out of Sprong if Kessel is moved.
It's something they may want to consider down the road, especially when they need to open up cap space and if they worry about Phil aging badly.
But Sprong has a lot more to prove first and that's probably at least a couple years down the road if not 3 where the cap will get tight |

Now with AA signed.... think Sheahan will be moved?
I think signals are pointing to something being done soon at 3C whether its Sheahan or Galchenyuk. I have no idea what the price would be on either player |

We could reasonably do both, which I think would make us pretty (frank)ing deep. |

They'd be nuts to trade Sprong. I see no reason to trade your best prospect for a 3rd line center. Kid reminds me of James Neal with that electric shot. |

He skates way (frank)ing better than Neal ever did and I think he actually has some semblance of play making capability. He reminds me more of Kessel with a functional one timer. |

I truly wonder what it would take to get Galchenyuk. Feel like he's been on the trade block since his very first season. He's got term too. If Montreal doesn't value him all that much, it would be a huge coup to get him as 3C. He'd be a fantastic fit here and is a legit second line caliber player. |

It's hard to complain if he resembles either one of those guys. He reminds me a Neal with how he's able to adjust the angle of his shot so easily. Just seems like no matter what the position he's in, he still gets a wicked snipe on net....doesn't have to be in his "wheel house". That kind of thing is a gift. I'll be pissed if JR trades him (which I don't believe he will). |

Yeah something absurdly good needs to be coming back if we're gonna trade Sprong. As a young, second line center, Galchenyuk with three years of term is in the ball park but I still wouldn't feel good about it. |

I hope this game is as entertaining as the last one. Although, that 5-4 win was a lot closer than I would have liked. The Pens have a habit of making me drink bourbon when I watch the Lightning play them. Almost always either a blowout in favor of the Pens, or a nailbiter for the Bolts.

I can't really think of anything off the top of my head that I'd be willing to give up Sprong for? Maybe in a package for a first pairing caliber defenseman? A top 6 center would be good, like Galchenyuk, but depends on the package.
If I am GR I am playing extreme hardball whenever anyone asks for Sprong in a trade. A cost controlled top 6 winger with his scoring touch is super valuable. |

Sprong would be a non-starter in any trade conversation IMO. We need a decent 3rd line center and everything should fall into place. I don't think we need to kill it with a Duchene or Galchenyuk. I mean it would be great, but I don't think it's necessary.

Not a bad trade. Sheanen will hopefully boost or C depth. Losing Wilson sucks, but a small blow |

Wow, just saw this. Good deal for both teams. I like Wilson, but we have all the depth we need on wing. |
