Ok Saver. Here's my take, the Rangers won't be good this year. They stink.

I think AV is a very good to great coach. I also think the with very, very few exceptions, coaches come with an expiration date at any particular stop, and I think that AV may be reaching his expiration date here.

With that said, I think the team leadership kind of sucks. The Rangers had a lot of very good locker room guys in the past few years, and a lot of them are now gone. I am not sure anyone is capable of stepping up to that role, but I'll say one thing for having a guy like Girardi on the team, when a guy constantly puts himself in harm's way for the team, it's much harder for other guys not to the same. The players need to hold each other accountable, and who really is going to do that on this team?

- Pete V

That's another reason why the LH shooting, Staal should have been the one bought out at that time, despite his OVERALL buyout cap hit charges for them to absorb, being about $4M higher for their respective full buyout period terms. Girardi led in the locker room, and by example on the ice as you said Pete, which leaves them now with possibly Zucc. & Jesper Fast being his closest to type on ice hardest working replacements.

I was only thinking of the 4 major Pro sports there, but thanks for that info., for I do not have the time to follow much more than all levels of hockey sports wise, with the exception of MLB at some greater level.

Lol. I didn't think many of you would be familiar with the running joke up here about the CFL, Saver. I immediately thought of it when I read your comment. I don't really watch, so I had to look it up, but last season the Ottawa Redblacks finished 1st in the Eastern Division with a regular season record of 8-9-1. And went on to win the Grey Cup (North America's oldest sporting trophy, btw)!!

Rangers are first in the league with 105 giveaways.
- airjan23

The Rangers had 11 (i.e, 10.5%) of those 105 giveaways alone in the 1st Period last night, in trailing 2-0 after one, and of course, yielding the Pens first goal during the first minute of the game. That's why both the coaching staff, starting with A.V., as well as the players are at fault. The bigger question here is WHO IS MORE at that fault, in order to fix the problem before a postseason appearance become out of the picture.
I feel that depending on their play & the results of these next two tough games against their nemesis in the Islanders tomorrow night, followed by Saturday's 12:30 pm match up against Nashville, something of a larger change will likely give through at least one means, if those results are negative overall. That would just precede them closing out October against the Sharks, Coyotes (with Stepan & Raanta), Canadiens, and the surprising at this point, expansion Knights, with all games with 3 of the 4 at home, with the exception of the Canadiens. They would have also closed the first month of the season in playing 10 of their first 13 games at home.

That's o.k. for you to express your feelings of them in this way after their 1-5-1 start to the season. But it's only 7 games, and in replying to the "Skjei Stadium" member, and in effect many other Rangers fans, including I, with your choice of words you used for that member in, "So Just EMBRACE In Being Bad", depicts that your true loyalty is not for the Rangers, but for some other team instead, (the Devils???).
No fan of any team would want to "EMBRACE" their team "BEING BAD", regardless of what young benefit may be the chance of coming their way as a possible result, which still may not pan out for many years. (See Edmonton Oilers prior to last season, and possibly maybe again this season??? I bet you wouldn't post in their blog, "So just EMBRACE in being bad".)

Did you also tell us that Sidney Crosby can play offense? Or that 2+2=4, or that water is wet? Or all the other things we already knew?
I thought that on the whole, S-kirk played a decent game. Did he make a mistake on the tying goal? Absolutely. But, here's the thing, and you might want to write this down... players make mistakes. If you're going to crucify them and rant about how they suck every time they make a bad play, people will stop listening. I know I have.

Here's the thing with the tying goal...just a brilliant heads-up play by Crosby. Not only did he know exactly the situation, but he prepared himself and sold the whole thing by protecting the puck. Sure, the play would have stopped if a Pens player touched the puck after touching another Pen's player's hand, but if Shatty has the chance to play the puck and doesn't, the infraction gets waived off.

Would you take that chance with the puck at your own goal-line?

No. He's referring to Jan's previous blog, comment pages 10-12. I just can't believe that Philadelphia sports fans would behave with so little class.

How many "YEEAAARRRRSSSSS" have you've been saying, "FIRE A.V." for here???
He has only been here since 2013, and coached them to one Stanley Cup Finals appearance, among many other playoff series wins, with most coming prior to the last two postseasons. If some horrific reffing against the Rangers had not taken place during his Cup Finals appearance, and if the Rangers had the luck instead of the Kings with pucks they shot not hitting goal posts, he would have coached the Rangers to a Stanley Cup win. So SHOW US where you said it waaaay back then as proof! It's a lie!!!
His time may be running out currently with him coaching the Rangers. But for you to say the type of nonsense you mostly contribute to this site, is ridiculous here with your words TODAY on A.V., and in the past with Fast. And I will not mention that other irritating one in key last season, which you made daily here in a non coyly way. (Oops, I almost said it!)

That "2+2=4", or that "water is wet" is intricate for me? Are you dundee #2 with a different user name, who in the past few days irritated Jan on the prior blog or two earlier? What's only slightly intricate for me, is what is intricate for you deep down in that water, which you think is dry.

Shattenkirk on game-tying goal:
“When Hornqvist brought it down, I think it might have even hit Marc [Staal’s] stick. So when I saw it, I thought he got a touch on it, which is why when I went to Crosby and I see him there on the goal line, I just go stick on puck. That’s just a natural thing to do as a defenseman,” Shattenkirk said Wednesday after practice. “He makes a very smart play. As soon as I’m about to touch the puck, I realize what he’s doing, leaving it, and realize at that moment that it’s a hand pass. But it’s a little bit too late

They are bad. They don't have the personnel to change that right. They also don't the right coach or the right attitude among themselves to change that.

The cheap and easy fix is to bring in Bobby 'Wild Thing' Farnham. He's not good but he can demonstrate putting in max effort every shift.
