Hornqvist's elbow is tucked in and buddy is watching his pass
Thats what you get outta minor hockey these days when they take away hitting at the younger ages. Guys aren't afraid to get hit so they end up watching the game and forget they are playing in it |

Why are you defending that hit? Hornqvist shouldered his face after the puck was well gone. It was the definition of illegal. If Shane Doan had done that to Letang we would all be having a cow. |

Feel for MAF and the concussion, heres to a quick recovery, but also Vegas, the waiving of Pickard seems even more silly now. |

The angle of the video shown makes it look worse than it was. I’m pretty sure he hit chest too. Still a high hit, but I don’t think it’s a hit you should be suspended for.
If it’s only head contact, then that’s different. But idk. I thought it looked like he hit both chest and face lol |

Yeah it was a Mantha knee to the head as he got shoved into MAF. Sad part is MAF went down and they stopped play yet somehow he was allowed to continue to play. |

Yea that's messed up, how do they not pull him out after a collision to the head like that. I was at the game in 2016 when he took the James Neal wrist shot to the helmet and shortly after during practice Kuni accidentally elbowed him crossing by. |

And MAF gave up 5 goals after the hit occurred. Total negligence on the NHLs part. |

Wow, thats just ridiculous. Does the NHL still employed the crews that watch for headshots? Or is that still team oriented? |

To my knowledge they still have concussion spotters in every arena however according to this article from last season it appears they have very limited power.

“Depending on the mechanism of injury, ‘slow to get up’ does not trigger mandatory removal,” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told USA TODAY Sports. “The protocol has to be interpreted literally to mandate a removal. ‘Ice’ as compared to ‘boards’ is in there for a reason. It’s the result of a study on our actual experiences over a number of years. ‘Ice’ has been found to be a predictor of concussions -- ‘boards’ has not been.” |

Yes Hornys hit appears a head shot. Puck gone & Horny didn't need to make contact there even though numb nuts wasn't trying to stay healthy.
If that happened to a Pen there would be some 'chatter' in here me thinks........
Is it suspendable? Who the (frank) knows. Plenty of other hits similar that haven't even garnered a 2nd thought!
Great result. Hopefully they can get on a bit of a roll soon & start lowering the goals against totals! |

Thanks for that, sounds like they may as well not have spotters |

I'm sorry but the refs were right to not call it a penalty on Hornquist's hit. He was pulling away from the hit and barely brushed the D's head. I am all for taking headshots out of the game but you also have to give guys credit when they are letting up on a hit.
It was obvious there was a thinking process happening there by Hornquist. He was going to hammer him, saw the D put himself in a bad position and then eased up on the hit massively. |
