What would it take to get Meyers from WPG?
Bozak + prospect?
JVR + pick?
or just straight up?
Hard to tell because he's been injured so much lately but I'd like him on the Leafs |

To much at this point! he'd be our highest paid dman! I don't see it happening! Imho - MR.Hunter
Didn't even think about that....good point.
But, top pairing guys get paid, especially by other GMs. Not sure we can set the salary bar at Rielly money. If we can fill that hole, the chances are the players salary is going to be set by the other team's GM already, not ours. |

maybe at the 2019 trade deadline the price will be that. i think it costs more this year.
they also have other guys carter, muzzin, etc. that they should be moving out ahead of doughty imo. - Tumbleweed
Agreed! They'll have to pay a huge price for a salery dump! And brown could go to Vegas for a 1st and other picks /prospects? And maybe another player? ..Muzzin ? |

Ya he's not the guy unless Gardner goes the other way! Their looking for a LH dman and for the leafs it would be a bit of a sideways move? |

huh but how much does it really help the kings? ..well mine you they get some relief but ottawa would have to retain and LA might add a 2nd? Prospect? ..idk but that's a odd trade to say the least! Phaneuf would love it! And the senator's would be screwed for dman pretty much! |

I just don’t see the kings moving doughty. But sure, if he’s available, you make a strong offer. Liljegren, 1st, kapanen plus.
I think it’s more likely we can acquire a 2-4 year RHD stop gap until liljegren is ready.
Demers, barrie, vatanen, braun, Martinez, myers. - Tumbleweed
I agree with most of what you are saying, except - the bolded. At this point one of the big considerations is contract situation. I think there's a strong chance that Doughty gets moved, but the Leafs should stay clear and this is why. He is only a rental for this year and next. If the deal is based on him signing I still don't think its a good move. It will be his second long term deal. If you look at NHL players that signed two long term deals in their careers, usually the second one sucks large (even more than Lums). When you are talking $10 or $11 million which he surely gets - he will be getting that through ages 35,36,37 and 38 and while its possible he will outperfom the contract the odds are stacked against it. It addition, Liljegren at years 24 to 27 will be in his prime, under control and cheaper. And there is a possibility that he will be better than Doughty at that point. |

i hear ya.
i keep going back to jvr for vatanen mid-season as the move we make. liljegren takes vatanen's spot in a few years.
in the meantime, we just look to put up a 5 spot every night. |

So, the Leafs shouldn't target Doughty, but they should try to get a guy who is far less proven and probably harder to get? - Arctic_AARDVARK
Doughty available?
Larsson cost Hall
Doughty cost Nylander & Marner or something crazy.

Yes exactly! ..except maybe the last part about him being better than? But I told my son's and a few friends before last summer that I wanted the leafs to hopefully finish last or second too! (Tank)if you will, one more year so they could draft Liljegren! When we got him at 17 I couldn't believe it! |

no! Not that crazy! but ya it's just not worth the cost for two years of doughty! He's 2to4th best defenseman in the league but it's the money aspect of it mostly! 10mil×7 ! One trade that could maybe do is doughty for Draisaitl? |

I would normally agree... but I do worry that we're gonna just lose JVR for nothing if we don't move him before the season starts.
I think he will become valuable for us as the season progresses and we won't want to move him at the deadline... and he will cost us too much to keep in the offseason.
He's a good movable asset that will be good where ever he goes even if he stays with us that would be great, but we might end up just losing him straight up. - Bleedz_Blue
I agree not the best asset management, to lose any good players for nothing! But if the leafs are cruising at all gears and their looking amazing? ,and theirs a chance to do some playoff damage? Then go for it! |

not selling jvr and bozak for futures and letting them potentially walk is going balls out for this year. |

A new contract would obviously be included.
Regardless, Doughty would cost us our 2 years of stocking up on assets |
