Well mcQ is only 30. Makes 3m per. Probably doable if thats the only move. Would love to have him on the Hawks.

Bet you weren't saying that when Vermette scored two goals in the finals in 2015. Or that game winner against the ducks...

He was very helpful in that run.

Which doesn't change the fact he sucked up until then and his benching probably lit a fire under his butt...and Q didn't "screw him over"

Thankfully the break is over and we get back to hockey this evening with the Oil coming in. Hopefully the Hawks break the trend of what we've seen of teams coming off their bye week where they are off and sluggish getting back to their game.

Ryan Hartman?

The Hawks won't part with Hartman for Duchene? Is that correct?

That's like saying the Laffs won't part with Connor Brown for Duchene. That's crazy.

- walshyleafsfan

Agree, unless SB thinks Hartman is the next Billy Guerin type player.

It is not trading Hartman for Duchene 1 for 1. It is Hartman, a high end prospect and a #1 draft pick. That combination is too much. If they took a less player it would probably be back on the table.

Are the Hawk's forwards better this year than last year in the playoffs?
Are the Hawk's defensemen better than last year in the playoffs?
Are the Hawk's goaltenders the same as last year in the playoffs?
Did the Hawk's have home ice in the first round last year?
Will the Hawk's have home ice in the first round this year?
Are the Blues as good as last year?

A lot will change between now and the start of the playoffs. But I like this year's version of the Hawk's more than last year's.

Everyone is badmouthing Toews.
48 games - 11G 24A plus 2 FO% 57

Everyone would like the hawk's to land Duchene.
51 Games - 15G 19A minus 18 FO % 62

And yes I know Toews makes $4.5 mil more than Duchene.

Cam Talbot and Martin Jones are doing pretty good. Chad Johnson too. Gibson has better stats than Crow, so I'm not sure what you're on about there.
- JRoenick97

Simply it takes time transition, and some cannot do it.
Chad Johnson is a backup or Elliott is a back up.
My point on Gibson was it is an on going transition and he playoff performance will be the final grade I give him.
Yup you are absolutely correct on Talbot and Jones, both of who were minor pro starters (as Crawford was) and that you better be ready for bumpy roads before the position stabilizes when a back up is asked to step up. It is lot of grind.
And there are long lists of goalless who couldn't handle the workload.

God I love it when Wiz gets under the bloggers skin... it makes me LOL

Then again, it isn't really all that hard to do. He went to Knox college (is that school even accredited?). I always pegged that as one step below University of Phoenix online, and one step above Sister Mary of the Blind University.

SO by posting here, JJ and I are the center of hawk blog universe?
Our is this suppose to be JJ's phones bio you contrived?

I graduated with honors from Northeastern University, taught high school mathematics 34 years, was the King of Comics with the biggest golden age collection around in 1965, and missed very few Chicago Stadium hawk games from 1960 on, and am JJ' s FRIEND, and I put that in caps, because I don't post to rankle him and he doesn't post in reaction to me, and you know what?
If we did, that would be between us.

So polish your etiquette, because the nuns who taught you in elementary might be reading this because your old school, Our Lady of Perpetual Dopes where they just got the internet, didn't teach you many serviable research skills.

Oh, I post in response to you, Wiz.

Because I respect your POV and your character, even when I disagree with you. Sometimes I do, sometimes, oftentimes, I agree.

And I am proud to call you a friend, as I have for several years now.

I did not know of your estimable education and educational background. No wonder, I have also learned a lot from you too.

And anyone who went to a "better" educational institution than Knox, te salut. Conversely, I used to work for a guy who never went to college and retired with $200 million. A brilliant guy. So who cares?

But that's all silly, petty, "manhood measuring" stuff that is irrelevant on a hockey message board.

Carry on. New blog in a few.

@HawksBreakdown
Maxim Shalunov's season comes to an end as HC Sibir Novosibirsk miss the KHL playoffs.

But @Scott Powers
Talked to Maxim Shalunov's agent in Russia at length today. He had some interesting things to say. #Blackhawks

And @ScottPowers
Could be two years before Blackhawks prospect Maxim Shalunov comes to the NHL

I mean Hartman's pretty good actually and only going to get better. Maybe not the same talent offensively that Duchene is right now, but he's 4 years younger, cheaper, and still only has 2 fewer goals than Duchene in about the same amount of games played.
- SimpleJack

I gotta enter this one too.
It is difficult to make it a Hartman - Duchene because nowadays all trades are close dollar for dollar and Hartmans value is cap hit and that lower than Duchene upside.
In a non CaP world you make that trade in a heartbeat, because you just moved Duchense to a much more skilled frontline attack.

The Avs can listen to everyone and then decide,
Is it in their best interest to trade a bolster the goal position, not try and get an established second pair defender, and find interest in long term players like DeBrincat & Chad Krys, and a defenseman or two from Rockford.

That would signal them seeking out a long term solution and return, except for the goalie and lower end defender.

I think that or years I was certain top pairing defenders in this new NHL were the most difficult asset to obtain in trades, and the Adam Larson deal just cemented that opinion everywhere.

Colorado can call Carolina or the Ducks and the most experienced established backliner over what I believe the Hawks want to part with.

And Jacob Trouba would be where I would center my attentions.

And just is correct: we don't know how highly the Hawks regard Darling, or how low the value keeping Crawford.

I just know that Darling right pad puts far too many pucks out to the point that give the opposition extra chances.

Oh, and in the last ten years how many goalies over 6 2 have won the Stanley cup?

None, so is the giant goalie and that new home plate stat as valid as some teams think?

Gotta go.

Will fight later jj

No fight.

1) NOWHERE has it been reported (at least not here) that the Hawks would deal Hartman straight up for Duchene. That's what the learnin' books call a "false equivalency" or "straw man" argument.

In fact, what's been reported here is the Hawks have discussed a large package of NHL (not Hartman, and paid more than Hartman) and AHL player, prospects, pick.

2) Darling gives up some rebounds for sure, and technically he is not as good as Crawford. But technically he is pretty good, and especially athletically, for a big man, he is very good.

3) This also is almost irrelevant. Sure, and no goalies under 6'1" have won a Cup recently. So by this logic, a goalie must be 6' 1-2" to win a Cup. That's silly. And that of course leaves out ALL other factors like relative quality of teams/defenses, etc. How big was Ken Dryden? Hasek (whose technique was a joke)? Many more.

Actually tonight was his 49th game. He missed 5 games. Erie has 10 games remaining in the regular season.
- EbonyRaptor

Erie has 14 regular season games remaining and DeBrincat needs 2 more goals to tie the OHL record of 3 consecutive 50 goal seasons. It's been 40 years since it was last accomplished.
