Thanks JJ!
First!
Sounds like Crow might be heading out the door. It will be interesting to see what happens. I agree about number 9 being difficult to squeeze in next year. It's hard to put that many high-paid players at the top of the roster. |

Oops...second.
If Duchene could be kept long(er) term and re-signed, I'd might be inclined to move Hartman....but that depends on what other assets would be going to Colorado. |

I think we have at least one in our midst these days, so keep your BS meters on.

Thanks for the update, JJ.
Is Oduya healthy enough to trade for, that's my only question about him. Not sure they can get fair value for him or Sharp, given what went down in the summer of 2015. Eaves doesn't figure into the past history, so there's a better chance of a less contentious trade negotiation with him, I would think, but then I sit here in my armchair without having personally experienced doing that deal and all that led up to it. |

Dunno on Oduya's health, but bear in mind, the info, I got was there have been no conversations as of yet WITH Dallas. As far as who the Hawks might target: Oduya, Eaves. No mention of Sharp either.
I have learned not to assume anything beyond what I am specifically, literally told. And that's why I also ask questions and dig a bit more before going out with some stuff.

Great updates John. Thanks again as always.
Glad to see Bowman stuck to his guns and keeping Hartman. Big fan of that loyalty and dedication to what the front office sees in terms of potential. Hartman to Avs to get Dutch... ehhh... I would love to see Duchene on this team, but there are other GMs who can potentially offer more. Would I do it? Depends on how long we can keep Duchene. But I'll concede this... Dutch is a game changer. And more valuable.
Eaves isn't a bad add at all in my opinion. Goes to the dirty areas and competes I'll give him that.
However, go younger and go after guys you can keep for at least 2 years. Palat or Tatar is key. |

Thanks for all the info JJ as usual, hope the weather in Columbus is as nice as it will be here......60's for 5 days in a row, time for some early golf, woo woo!!!
Personally, I've gone from the idea of the Hawks getting some real top 6 help at the TDL, to hoping the Wild, Blues, Preds, Sharks, etc don't get the help that we wanted to get, so to speak. Let all the top talent Head East!!! (Underated rock band, btw.)
Lastly, I always have my BS meter.....too many years of marriage and kids.

I ordered my BS meter from Ek. I'm still waiting for it. The last mail update told me to stay tuned and more to come and that Therrien is safe for now. |

Cost-certainty is a big reason. And the Hawks def see Hartman as having upside.

He'd definitely help. Just not in the top 6.

Not surprised they want to keep Hartman...I mean you don't gain ground against the cap by moving cost controlled assets that are contributing when you are going to be taking on more salary the other way.
He has one more year on his contract that is under 900k and then RFA. Maybe the story changes towards the deadline next year, depending how things play out in the next 12 months. |

FWIW, The Great and Powerful Bob Mckenzie (and others) said the same.

Correct.
My info. is the Hawks are going to somewhat address the cap this summer. See the blog. Connect the dots. |

You're suggesting he'd be a healthy scratch, or do you mean it doesn't solve anything regarding top 6 forwards? I want to think he would slide right back into his old spot at 4D. Have his skills eroded since he left here? |

And if you can sign him to a Shaw-like contract... like the one after the 2013 run. It's huge and it helps with savings. I think they are mindful of that. |

or....it could be Stan playing coy until the deadline because he knows Sakic is really interested in Hartman and he knows when to dangle the carrot |
